Samsung sets Major Galaxy announcement for August 15th

, Jul 20th 2012 Discuss [0]

The folks at Samsung have sent our invites to the press for a "major" Galaxy-line announcement on the 15th of August, fueling rumors that a second-generation Galaxy Note device is in the works. As Samsung has already announced and released their king of smartphones, the Galaxy S III, it's time for their queen, if you might call it that, of devices in either the Galaxy Tab or the Galaxy Note line to appear. One might also hypothesize that it could be a combination of the two. Read The Full Story

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 nixed from pre-orders [UPDATED]

, Jun 13th 2012 Discuss [0]

This year we've seen the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 not once, not twice, but three times (and more) in the wild at trade shows leading up to this moment: when the device actually goes on sale. What we were told earlier today was that at least one if not two or more major online retailers would be launching a pre-order page for this device. What we're seeing now is that not only were these links up, they've been pulled as well. Read The Full Story

Revised Galaxy Note 10.1 includes S-Pen slot

, May 23rd 2012 Discuss [0]

It’s been a bit touch and go with Samsung’s Galaxy Note 10.1. First shown off at MWC 2012 with a dual-core processor underneath the chassis, the tablet has yet to see the light of day. Rumors indicated that Samsung held off on the tablet to include a quad-core CPU, something they quickly denied. New info about the tablet has emerged from Tablet Community, with Samsung tweaking the design to accommodate the included S-Pen. Read The Full Story

Will the Stylus Have the Last Laugh?

There are times, the SlashGear team reminds me, when I sound like a broken record; not least is when I’m bleating on about stylus input and what makes a “proper” tablet. Apple’s iPad convinced the market that fingers were most functional, and the clunky digital pens of Windows 7 slates did little sway them otherwise. Yet with the news that note-taking app Evernote has acquired Penultimate, a digital handwriting specialist, could we be nearing the second coming of the stylus?

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 delayed for quad-core upgrade [UPDATE: Samsung denies]

, Apr 17th 2012 Discuss [8]

The folks at Samsung have been tipped to be holding back the next steps in their tablet evolution with not only the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 but the Galaxy Note 10.1 as well, both of them set for an upgrade to quad-core processors at launch time. Both of these devices were originally set to have dual-core processors of one kind or another, but due to the extremely quickly changing times in the tablet market it seems, they'll be upgrading both to their next-generation Exynos chips with four CPU cores instead. This bodes well for the Samsung tablet line as well as the Samsung Galaxy S III smartphone which is set to be revealed next month. Read The Full Story

It's all about the iPad today, but no company worth its salt would miss the opportunity to remind tech heads of its own upcoming prospects and vie for your consumer electronics dollar. Since Samsung has become Apple's #1 foe on the worldwide market, it wants to make sure you remember its new flagship tablet, the Galaxy Note 10.1. Essentially an upgraded version of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 with the added benefit of a Wacom digitizer, S-pen stylus and plenty of custom apps, Samsung is hoping to transition its tablets into the creation space. Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 hands-on

Samsung announced the Galaxy Note 10.1 yesterday and we spent some time with the pen-enabled slate already, but we couldn't resist stopping by for an extended play. Stylus-equipped tablets haven't been fashionable for years, but Samsung stands a chance of bringing the segment back into fashion, thanks to a mixture of usable Ice Cream Sandwich and the flexibility of accurate handwritten text entry. Samsung admits to tablet flop, expects success with new Galaxy Note series

, Feb 27th 2012 Discuss [16]

During a media roundtable today at MWC 2012, Samsung admitted that its efforts in the tablet market have missed the mark. Samsung product strategy exec Hankil Yoon was refreshingly direct, saying: "Honestly, we're not doing very well in the tablet market." However, the company appears confident in its new Galaxy Note series of tablets, which includes the 5-inch "phablet" phone-tablet hybrid version and the newly announced 10.1-inch model.
