Samsung three-sided AMOLED reportedly in trial production

Samsung is no stranger to curved OLED, having already used gently-flexed displays on wearables, smartphones, and TVs, but according to supply chain whispers the company is now looking to sharper edges for its multi-sided screens. Having shown off prototypes of smartphones where the display wraps around the edges more than 18 months ago, Samsung is now said to be entering trial production of the so-called three sided screens.

Samsung wearables entering fitness and fashion markets

At the 2013 Samsung Analyst meeting it was revealed that the company will not be satisfied with its current devices in the wearables market - namely the Samsung Galaxy Gear. Instead they'll be expanding through Samsung Display first, making efforts to push in to the fitness world and the fashion market through the year 2018. While the company has already started moving toward fitness with a built-in pedometer in the Galaxy Gear and fitness apps appearing out of the box with the Samsung Galaxy S 4 and Galaxy Note III, it would appear that the Samsung Sport will be next up for grabs.

Samsung tipped to intro three-sided wraparound display next year

Samsung introduced the Galaxy Round smartphone with a curved display. That display was 5.7-inches and Full HD, however it looks like Samsung is not quite ready to stop with a simple curve in the display. Six LG Display employees have been charged with stealing OLED technology from Samsung Display between 2010 and 2011, with Samsung saying that LG poached some of its core employees - and presumably a number of its business secrets - as well. 11 people total have been charged in the case, including three people who currently work for Samsung and two former Samsung Mobile employees.
