Rovio details Angry Birds expansion 240 miles above Earth

It's the greatest day of the week if you're a lover of the ultra popular gaming franchise Angry Birds, as the Space expansion has been revealed by none other than NASA! And not just NASA, but NASA's Don Pettit as he floats aboard the International Space Station 240 nautical miles above the surface of Earth! This announcement contains not just details on how the game will work, and not just notes on when it'll be released - it's got Pettit showing off how an environment relatively free from gravity really truly allows this expansion of the game to take on a whole new face!

Angry Birds outs Galaxy Note update, Android 4.0 ICS missing

It appears that the possibility that Samsung will be pushing another "Premium Suite" upgrade to their devices instead of the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update promised weeks ago may be getting very real. Though we've yet to hear back on the oddity of this particular tip, the words are there for everyone to read, and right at the end of the Samsung Galaxy Note's very own Angry Birds Space teaser 2 video, of all places. We've been teased with this game for some time now, hearing that Rovio is working with Samsung for a release on Samsung smartphones exclusively, that they're working with NASA and National Geographic for cross-promotion, and now that the Galaxy Note will be the first device to roll out with the update.

Angry Birds: Space ties with NASA and National Geographic

Rovio's teaser this past week of the newest Angry Birds release to be known as Angry Birds: Space has this week been given a PR boost by none other than NASA and National Geographic! In an interview with Yahoo Games, Rovio North America general manager had a bit more information on the game, especially in regards to what the game will hold for gameplay. We'd hypothesized that Angry Birds: Space would have at least one launch partner, Samsung's Galaxy Note being amongst them, but now it looks more like Rovio will be going to space much more literally!

Angry Birds Space teased, may land with Galaxy S III

The next generation of Angry Birds is right around the corner - a phrase we could say basically any day of the month. But this time it's true insofar as they've announced a brand new concept: Angry Birds Space. This will be an entirely separate game just like Angry Birds Seasons is separate from Angry Birds Rio, and not one whole heck of a lot of information has been revealed thus far. There's a very short teaser out already, and the logo has dropped, but other than that, we're expecting lots of gravity modifications.

KISS frontman Gene Simmons eyes Angry Birds deal

When you think of colorful, odd-shaped birds flinging into a group of circular green pigs, does a man who dresses up in gaudy black-and-white makeup and gothic black outfits come to mind? Well, maybe. But then again, with the number of different promotions and partnerships Rovio has managed to milk out of Angry Birds, pretty much anything sounds like it makes sense at this point.

Rovio says piracy brings in more business for Angry Birds

Rovio says piracy brings in more business for Angry Birds

Somewhere, a RIAA supporter is crying right now. Rovio, the mobile developer behind the wildly popular Angry Birds game has talked a bit about piracy at the Medim conference this week. Rather than get aggressive and sue people like the RIAA did; Rovio is taking a much more laid-back and much more intelligent path to dealing with piracy. The policy is do nothing unless it hurts users of the game or clearly hurts the Angry Birds brand.

BlackBerry PlayBook gets Angry Birds, and there was much rejoicing

What’s the most ideal game type for mobile?

What’s the most ideal game type for mobile?

As soon as it became apparent a few years ago that the mobile platform for applications wasn't just going to be a secondary market, developers around the world pulled out their coding fingers and started typing away, creating games that have since grown to epic proportions: like Angry Birds, for example. In the game you've almost certainly played or have seen played in front of or behind you on a bus or airplane at some point, you simply pull back on a slingshot using your smartphone's touch display and let it loose, knocking down targets. A game as simple as that became so earth-shatteringly popular that the group who made it, Rovio, is creating a television show, has their own shop (and soon line of shops) containing physical merchandise, and they've made millions of dollars from the game and subsequent games alone. And it all comes back down to the fact that it feels so RIGHT to play it on your smartphone - wouldn't you say?

Angry Birds cross-promote with Galaxy Note for Christmas

The folks at Rovio are no strangers when it comes to cross-promoting their brand with other gigantic names in the business, this time with Samsung and their Galaxy Note device, showing how even cartoon characters can use this massive in-between the tablet and handset Galaxy Note to cut out images and share them with friends. We already knew that the Rovio crew had released their next chapter in the Angry Birds Seasons series with a new 2011 winter season by the name of Angry Birds Seasons: Wreck the Halls!

World’s first Angry Birds Shop open for business in Finland

All you lovers of the Angry Birds brand can rest easy knowing there's an Angry Birds-centric store headed your way soon, as the first shop has officially opened its doors for business in Helsinki, Finland. Of course Finland is the birthplace of Angry Birds and still where Rovio, the developer of said game resides, so of course the first store should open in such a place. Of course we've got to wait and see how well it does before more shops open nationwide and worldwide, but for now, we've got our own versions in just sections of stores such as the one you'll see a bit later in this post, complete with hookahs.
