Angry Birds hits 1.7 billion downloads, “Toons” launching March 17

Calling it an industry first, Rovio is launching a video distribution channel across all of the developer's Angry Birds game titles on smartphones and tablets. Starting on March 17, gamers will be able to access the channel when it unlocks on that day. Angry Birds Toons will also be available from a handful of video-on-demand channel providers, as well as on select TV networks around the world.

Angry Birds Space just got a new cadet, with Rovio announcing a bit ago that Guns N' Roses' guitarist Slash has performed a cover of the game's theme song, and has also been immortalized with his own guitar-wielding Angry Bird character. Angry Birds Space now available on Steam

Angry Birds Space has been out for awhile now, and while it's been replaced by the more-recent Angry Birds Star Wars, Angry Birds Space still holds a special place in gamers' hearts, especially since it was the first game in the franchise to incorporate more physics than just flinging birds from a sling shot. Now the game is available on Steam and it's on sale for a limited time.

Angry Birds for iOS now available for free

Angry Birds for iOS now available for free

After the game's initial release in December of 2009, the original Angry Birds game for iOS is now completely free to download. Both the iPhone and iPad versions are available to download at no cost. Previously the game was priced at $0.99 for the iPhone/iPod Touch version and $2.99 for the "HD" variant.
