BlackBerry Messenger Money app set to launch in Indonesia

RIM has given the official word that it will be adding a financial feature to its BlackBerry Messenger App called "Money." The upcoming feature will allow BBM users to transfer funds from their phone. RIM updates BlackBerry 10 developer program

RIM has announced new updates to its developer program today that it hopes will drive enthusiasm for its BlackBerry 10 platform. One of the big changes to the developer program is that the BlackBerry Dev Alpha program has been expanded to include a new BlackBerry Dev Alpha C test device for developers. Today we found out that new Nexus 4 orders won't ship for another 4-5 weeks, and that's if you're ordering the 16GB model - those who order the 8GB model might be waiting as long as two months. Microsoft boss Steve Ballmer said that Windows Phone sales these days are four times greater than they were in autumn 2011, which is definitely a good sign, while we learned that RIM has lost a big patent case against Nokia in Sweden. In a ruling that may have wide-reaching results in an extremely negative sense for BlackBerry maker RIM, Nokia has won a patent dispute against said smartphone rival. This dispute had Canada's Research In Motion losing a legal battle between itself and Nokia in which a Swedish arbitrator has ruled that "RIM was in breach of contract and is not entitled to manufacture or sell WLAN products without first agreeing royalties with Nokia." NTSB dumps “failing” BlackBerry for iPhone 5

RIM has lost another US government contract, with the NTSB confirming that it is ditching BlackBerry in favor of iPhone 5 after its existing phones begin failing "at an unacceptable rate." The decision, revealed on the Federal Business Opportunities index, will see the National Transportation Safety Board turn to Verizon for service on its new Apple handsets, having already invested in iOS hardware. RIM has quite a few big months ahead of it. We now know that BlackBerry 10 will be launching at the end of January (provided it isn't delayed again), and even though we're not sure how well it's going to fare, it's clear that RIM needs BlackBerry 10 to succeed. According to The New York Times, today Jeffries analyst Peter Misek gave BlackBerry 10 a 20 to 30% chance of success, and though that sounds pretty grim, that analysis actually sent RIM's stock price up.
