The official BlackBerry 10 event took place today in New York City with streams shown live throughout the planet, this being just one example of what Heins noted was RIM's hopw for a "hyper-connected" environment for the future. BlackBerry Z10 renders make the case against iPhone 5

, Jan 28th 2013 Discuss [0]

The fellow who brought you quite a few ultra-realistic renderings of smartphones and tablets over the past year Martin Hajek has struck again with the BlackBerry Z10. This time he's making the case for a white version of the machine as it sits right next to the iPhone 5, also rendered by this amazingly talented fellow. What's interesting about this device beyond its obvious inclusion in the same generation of smartphone aesthetics as the iPhone 5 is that it is, here, appearing to be a real iPhone competitor - could it be? Huawei shocks smartphone market with 3rd place finish in 2012: IDC

, Jan 27th 2013 Discuss [0]

This week we're having a bit of a double-take on the IDC's release outlining the fourth quarter mobile device market share breakdown for the end of 2012, with none other than Huawei taking third place. This is absolutely surprising as all get-out as Huawei has never before cracked the top 5 smartphone vendors in the world - it's only been inside the top 10 before now. Groups like LG, Motorola, and Nokia do not appear in the top 5 for smartphone sales in the quarter, while Nokia sits pretty in second place for total mobile phone "Vendors, Shipments, and Market Share" for 2012 (that includes non-smart phones).
