Nokia C7-00 gets pre-announce preview: “more balanced” than N8

, Aug 26th 2010 Discuss [1]

It seems even the threat of legal action can't keep Mobile-review's Eldar Murtazin from spilling the beans on unannounced Nokia handsets, with the latest on his test bench to be the upcoming Nokia C7-00.  Spotted in the wild back in early June, the Symbian^3 handset has a 3.5-inch AMOLED 640 x 360 display and, Murtazin reckons, is basically the N8 with a mere 8-megapixel camera and no HDMI output. Lenovo ThinkStation C20 Review

, Aug 25th 2010 Discuss [1]

Big computers generally mean big performance, but does a PC need to be imposing in order to blitz through the benchmarks?  Lenovo’s ThinkStation C20 is the baby of the range when it comes to physical size, but with dual Intel Xeon processors and NVIDIA’s Quadro FX 4800 graphics, it’s no slowpoke. Check out the full SlashGear review after the cut.

The new Lenovo ThinkCentre M90z is aimed at both consumer and business users, and while the range kicks off at $929 with a mere Pentium CPU, the model on the SlashGear test bench today is the multitouch-capable touchscreen version complete with a 3.2GHz Intel Core i5 processor. Toshiba Libretto W100: build good, battery bad, geek-cred off the chart [Video]

, Aug 20th 2010 Discuss [2]

Toshiba's Libretto W100 flew off Amazon's shelves when it went on sale earlier this week, with the retailer already confirming that its initial stock is exhausted.  So, how exactly are the first customers liking the dual-touchscreen clamshell?  Jenn over at Pocketables knows her stuff when it comes to ultraportables, and she seems pretty blown away by the W100 - that's despite only 4hrs runtime with the bloated extended battery, laggy screen rotation and an uncertain target market. Dell Thunder prototypes leak, get early video review

, Aug 20th 2010 Discuss [4]

A Dell Thunder prototype has not just leaked but come bounding out, with the Engadget team getting enough hands-on time with two of the upcoming Android smartphones.  Despite the early build of both units - dated April, with the real thing not set to arrive until later this year - they sound pretty solid, with one handset seemingly outfitted for quadband AT&T use and the other suggesting T-Mobile USA support. Toshiba Libretto W100 import gets video unboxing & review

, Aug 16th 2010 Discuss [2]

Toshiba's Libretto W100 is an exceedingly expensive way to get dual LCD touchscreens in a clamshell device, so you'll forgive us if we pay close attention to early unboxing reports to see if its worth the $1,400+ importers are currently asking.  Wow Pow grabbed one of Conics early units and subjected it to a three-part video unboxing and review, which you can watch after the cut. Clear iSpot Review

, Aug 13th 2010 Discuss [1]

Wireless hotspots are relatively commonplace these days, billed as straightforward ways to get all your WiFi devices online without paying a cellular modem subscription for each. The Clear iSpot, then, is an odd fish: while it’s capable of supporting up to eight WiFi clients simultaneously, they’re all meant to be Apple mobile devices like the iPad, iPhone or iPod touch. Have one of those and you can be enjoying 4G speeds for a bargain monthly fee; anything else and – officially – you’re out of luck. Check out the full SlashGear review after the cut.

HP ENVY 14 Review

, Aug 2nd 2010 Discuss [6]

The baby of HP’s second-generation ENVY premium notebook range has arrived on the SlashGear test bench, and we have to admit it’s a pretty appealing machine. Packing a 14.5-inch display, Intel Core i5 CPU and ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 graphics, it may look a little like a MacBook Pro but happily HP has also carried over the solid build quality. Still, are good looks enough to ween users off their Apple addiction? Check out the full SlashGear review after the cut.

AVADirect Clevo W880CU Gaming Notebook Review

, Aug 2nd 2010 Discuss [1]

Clevo may not quite be a household name, but the company’s mid- and high-end laptops have been thoroughly rebadged and neatly demonstrated the Clevo heritage. Fresh to the SlashGear test bench is the Clevo W880CU, courtesy of AVADirect, a monstrous Core i7 behemoth of a machine with a 17.3-inch display and 2GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 480M graphics. At almost $3,000, does the performance warrant the price tag? Check out the full review after the cut.

Lenovo IdeaCentre Q150 Review

, Jul 28th 2010 Discuss [2]

While ultra-compact nettops have been around for some time now, they’re still yet to revolutionize the HTPC market as we were initially promised. Hoping to change all that is Lenovo with their new IdeaCentre Q150, packing NVIDIA’s Ion 2 GPU paired with a low-power Intel Atom CPU. Lenovo say it’s good for 1080p HD; does the real-world experience live up to the spec sheet? Check out the full SlashGear review after the cut.

Synology DiskStation DS411+ NAS Review

, Jul 26th 2010 Discuss [0]

Synology promised us speed, speed and more speed with their new DiskStation DS411+ NAS, and so we had to take them up on the challenge. A four-drive RAID array targeted at demanding home users or SMBs, the DS411+ may look sober on the outside but with the spec sheet promising read rates of 112MB/sec and write rates of 106MB/sec, it’s hardly an unattractive proposition. Can Synology back up their claims? Check out the full SlashGear review after the cut.
