We've already seen plenty of Viliv's S10 Blade convertible touchscreen netbook, criticized its pricing and watched it strut its stuff on video; all that's left is the full review, and UMPC Portal have just that.  They've been playing with the S10 Blade for a few weeks now, and come away mightily impressed. ASUS Eee PC T101MT gets re-reviewed: improved [Video]

, Mar 15th 2010 Discuss [0]

It's fair to say the early reviews of the ASUS Eee PC T101MT were disappointing, in no small part because it felt like we'd been waiting a whole long time for the company's latest touchscreen convertible.  According to netbooklive, however, we may all have spoken too soon: turns out that the hardware we've seen so far has been sprinkled with pre-production bugs; they've got a production-ready sample, and the end result is much more impressive. Archos 1 Vision PMP reviewed: cheap but definitely not cheerful

, Mar 15th 2010 Discuss [1]

While fanboi debates rage just as strongly as they ever did, in general gadgets across the board are better designed, better constructed and better performing than we could've hoped for five or so years ago.  That's why it's so nice to find a real humdinger of a review for Archos' 1 Vision PMP, an MP3 player that anythingbutipod describe as having "bad build quality, awkward design, peculiar button placements, an undeniably unnecessary power switch, somewhat peculiar menus and an extra features set that might as well not have been there." When a high-end, respected speaker manufacturer like Bowers & Wilkins decide they're going to funnel some of their magic into headphones, the audiophile world can't help but perk up.  Announced late last year, the B&W P5 headphones have only just shown up - though not in stock - at the Apple Store, but over at Head-Fi they've a set of production samples to unbox and generally play with. Pocketbook 360° reviewed: fastest ereader around

, Mar 15th 2010 Discuss [0]

Given the number of wireless-enabled, high-aspiring ereaders we've seen promised for launch and then failing to turn up on schedule - Plastic Logic and Spring Design, we're looking at you - there are times when you wonder if you're better off with a regular ebook device that does the basics well.  One such example might be the Pocketbook 360°, a non-wireless reader around the size of a CD case and half the weight of a Kindle or nook; it may not let you download ebooks while on the move, but it does apparently boast super-fast speed and usability. Hanvon BC10C multitouch Win7 tablet gets tested: premium feel

, Mar 15th 2010 Discuss [1]

Hanvon's BC10C (and its BA10E sibling) was a surprising stand-out from CeBIT 2010 recently, a multitouch-capable 10-inch slate running Windows 7.  jkkmobile managed to bring one home from the show, and has been testing it out to see whether it's all good news.  The upside is that media performance - thanks to the 1.3GHz Celeron ULV processor - is decent; the downside is that CULV notebook style components don't add up to extremes of battery life. Lian Li PC-T1R Spider case gets tested: arachnophobes need not apply

, Mar 12th 2010 Discuss [1]

Bizarre PC cases are nothing new, but Lian Li's PC-T1R Spider does manage to look different even in that unusual crowd.  Described as a "test bench" case - that is, one which leaves the components open and accessible for frequent tinkerers - the PC-T1R takes a mini-ITX board and a slimline optical drive, while looking like a spider with half its regular legs. Entourage eDGe gets reviewed: double-displays but half-baked?

, Mar 5th 2010 Discuss [0]

As a distinctive dual-display device (running Android no less) there's been plenty of attention on the Entourage eDGe e-reader since it was announced late last year.  Packing a separate E Ink panel with an active digitizer and a touchscreen LCD with the Android UI, Entourage bill the eDGe as the ideal education, reading and research tool.  Over at LAPTOP, however, they're not so sure; they've been reviewing the eDGe, and the end result is a feeling that it's not quite market-ready. Premium HiSoundAudio Studio PMP found using disguised cheap chip

, Mar 4th 2010 Discuss [0]

Nothing puts the quality cat among the audiophile pigeons like products billed as offering "premium" sound being found to use mainstream components.  Latest to potentially fall foul is HiSoundAudio's Studio PMP, on sale for a whopping $345, but which - after MP4 Nation opened it up - was found to be using a Sigmatel 3770 chip as its main processor and DAC, something more commonly found in mid-range MP3 players.
