ASUS have officially launched the Eee PC T91 convertible touchscreen netbook, and already the first reviews are surfacing.  Based around an 8.9-inch display which can rotate flat onto the keyboard for slate use, the T91 runs Intel’s Atom Z520 CPU with 1GB of RAM, a 16GB SSD, WiFi b/g/n and Bluetooth 2.1.  According to Pocket-lint, it’s a useful compromise between traditional Tablet PC functionality and netbook scale.

Sony Ericsson’s Yari motion-gaming handset only made its official debut last night, but already GSMArena have posted their review of the 5-megapixel slider.  As you might expect, it’s the special movement-tracking gaming that prompts the biggest smiles, but there’s still some love spared for the 5-megapixel camera with autofocus.

HP’s new Mini 110 has been rocking the test bench of our friends over at LaptopMag, and the 10-inch netbook has not disappointed.  Described as “the company’s best netbook for consumers yet”, the Mini 110 scores points for its excellent keyboard and extra ports over the previous-gen Mini 1000, but loses love for the awkward mouse buttons.

Violet’s Mir:ror took its time coming, but the RFID coaster is now on the market and getting its first reviews.  The Gadgeteer have been playing with the wireless gizmo, which allows you to tag objects with self-adhesive “ztamps” and associate them with functions like launching websites, playing media, sending messages or recording frequency of use stats.

Since spending a few hundred dollars of his own money on importing one of the first SmartQ 7 MIDs from China, Steve over at UMPC Portal has been promising a full review.  That’s now online, and it’s a mixed bag; the SmartQ 7 ticks many ultraportable boxes - like decent battery life, solid 1mbps DivX playback and a browser that handles page formating well - but falls well short in other areas.

I wish I was a DJ. Or at least, I wish I was talented enough to use the Tonium Pacemaker Pocket DJ effectively. I play drums but I can’t mix beats, so I had to call in reinforcements. My good friend DJ T.A.I. offered to help out with taking a look at the Pacemaker, and he was able to throw together a short demo for us in the very short amount of time he had the device.

Ford gave me the keys to a really nice Lincoln MKS. You can check out the first part of my experience here. In today’s video, I demonstrate the music functionality and call features of Microsoft SYNC in the Lincoln MKS. The car was fun to drive, and all of the technology features made for endless fun as I downloaded phone books and talked to the car and told it to change tracks. Doris (the name I gave the female voice in the car) responded very well and SYNC was able to pick up my commands without a problem.

As more and more Digital Video Recorders (DVRs) offer the choice of recording in high-definition, and more consumers decide to prioritize picture quality, the standard storage in most models simply can’t keep up.  Into that fray steps the DVR Expander, a straightforward way of adding recording capacity; today it’s the turn of the Seagate Showcase DVR Storage Expander, a full 1TB of storage.

Netbook manufacturers trying to distinguish their budget wares are nothing new, and Dell have taken to the classroom with their Latitude 2100.  Announced yesterday, the Latitude 2100 packs the usual Intel Atom N270 processor but in an education-friendly design; as LaptopMag found, that means things like a semi-rugged design and a light that lets teachers know that their students are wasting time online.

The Acer Aspire One 751 is such a good looking netbook that we were willing to give it a second chance.  After disappointing with the first round of testing, primarily because of the underpowered Intel Atom Z520 1.3GHz processor, we crossed our fingers that a second round would prove them to be some bizarre aberration.  Sadly, going by the figures at NetbookNews.it, our hopes are unfounded.
