iPhone 5 production starts in June

With the Summer season upon us, it’s the mobile world that we once again look to for the most surprises, especially from Apple with it’s upcoming iPhone 5, it being a “full refresh” season for the smartphone maker. Apple has for the past several years created a complete refresh of an iPhone, then an “S” version, then a complete refresh once more, this resulting in last year’s iPhone 4S and this year’s big jump into the future: the iPhone 5. What we’re hearing this week is that the production of this next-level smartphone will start with its displays, with orders already placed, so says the WSJ, for a 4-inch screen which will start to roll out this June.

iPad Air Display gets Retina upgrade

This week the folks at Avatron have updated their popular "Air Display" app for iPad to include Retina-quality graphics for the 3rd Generation iPad. This upgrade will bring you up to full speed with your second monitor via your new iPad and will now have you working with full support for the graphics you payed for in the first place! Apple rumored to use Retina display in next iMac

Apple may be gearing up to refresh its entire Mac lineup with Retina displays. The imminent MacBook Pro refresh has long been rumored to feature the new pixel-dense screen and now the next-gen iMac looks to be getting the same treatment. Apple’s new iPad Retina display production problems persist

It looks like Apple is still coping with production problems of its Retina display for the new iPad. According to AppleInsider, who spoke with KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Samsung remains the sole supplier of the Retina display with LG and Sharp still struggling to provide screens that will meet Apple's strict standards. Samsung Mobile countdown site points to tomorrow reveal, hints at Retina?

Apparently there will be big Samsung news unveiled when the calendar hits April 23. The manufacturer has launched a new teaser site with a countdown timer set to expire in the early morning hours of tomorrow, in US time at least. Pixel Qi teases ultra-frugal Retina Display rival

Low-power screen experts Pixel Qi have teased a new iPad matching panel, equalling the Retina Display resolution but delivering "massive power savings" on Apple's technology. "We at Pixel Qi loved the Apple iPad3 screen, but were shocked by the overheating reports and the massive power draw (8Watts?!)" company founder Mary Lou Jepsen observed on the company blog. "We can now announce that we can match or exceed the image quality of the screen in the iPad3." Intel VP confirms Retina support in Ivy Bridge

During the Intel Developer Forum yesterday, the company predicted that pixel-dense displays will become mainstream by 2013 in devices ranging from smartphones to desktop computers. Intel's VP and GM of the PC Client Group Kirk Skaugen also revealed that upcoming Ivy Bridge chips are built for Retina display computers, pretty much confirming rumors that next-gen Macs will indeed feature the high-resolution screen. New iPad shipments limited by Retina display supply

Production of Apple's new iPad has slowed causing some investors to be concerned that demand for the device is dropping off. This is not the case, according to Sterne Agee analyst Shaw Wu, who says that the new iPad remains high in demand and that the limited production is due to the shortage in Retina displays and the implementation of more sound labor practices following the Fair Labor Association report on Foxconn.
