Just as CDs have quickly been overtaken by digital downloads, so the number of people wanting to get their music off the computer and through speakers in their living room, kitchen and bedroom has increased. Wading into that market is Raumfeld, promising “Hi-Fi for the digital age” with their eponymous modular system. NASA Droidrover project uses Android remote control [Video]

Is there anything a humble Nexus One can't do?  Well, yes, probably - its track record at damson picking is pretty poor - but the Android smartphone has found favor over at the NASA Ames research labs where they're using it to remotely-control a Senseta rover as part of their Droidrover project.  According to the team there, the Nexus One - paired over Bluetooth with an Arduino - makes for a smaller, lighter and cheaper setup than their existing microcontroller and router, and that adds up to a rover with reduced power consumption, better performance and improved manoeuvrability. Sonos Controller for iPad released; Sonos Spotify activated

It's taken them a little longer than initially expected, but the Sonos controller for iPad app has finally landed in the App Store [iTunes link].  A free download, it allows Sonos system users to control their multi-room streaming music system on the iPad's sizeable touchscreen.  Meanwhile the company has also released Sonos Software 3.3, which updates the system with support for Spotify. Apple Remote 2.0 released with Apple TV and AirPlay support

Apple's long-awaited update to the Apple Remote app has finally arrived [iTunes link], and v2.0 takes good advantage of the company's more recent hardware.  A universal app with iPhone/iPod touch and iPad versions, Apple Remote 2.0 still allows you to control iTunes streaming to various AirPort Express units, but now also supports the new Apple TV and AirPlay. Sony Ericsson LiveView is Bluetooth mini-display for Android 2.x phones [Video] [Updated]

Sony Ericsson has announced a micro-display for Android 2.x smartphones, the LiveView, with a 1.3-inch 128 x 128 color OLED screen.  Hooking up to your phone via Bluetooth (with a roughly 10m range) and intended to be left on your desk, clipped to your bag strap or even worn, watch-style, on a wristband, the Sony Ericsson LiveView can show SMS, RSS, Twitter and Facebook updates, and be used to control music playback.
