Motorola’s Razr2 was released earlier this fall without much of a bang. But it’s still one of the slickest flip phones on the market. I’ll be taking a look at the T-mobile version of the phone, and touching on its finer points.

MOTORIZR Z10

Do you like the Razr line of products (Razr, Razr2, KRZR, etc.)? well, first I am sorry in your poor taste in phones, but second, I am happy to inform you there will be another addition to that line come December, the RIZR Z10.

What’s the difference between this one and its predecessors? Other than the fact it’s a slider, this one might actually be worth the attached price tag of 400 Euro.

T-Mobile today released their version of Motorola’s latest jack, the MOTORAZR2 V8. if you want to know the big difference between this model and the ones that everyone else got, it’s a slight bit of software customization and then the lack of any storage expansion slot, but in trade, it does come with 2GB of storage built in.

After the release of the iPhone, in fact after just about any phone released since a few months ago, releasing the RAZR2 with it’s only impressive feature being a high res external screen with a touch-sensitive portion at the bottom, that’s just unacceptable. Especially at a price point of $249 after a 2 year contract, that’s just crazy.

So some of you I am sure saw our own Chris Davies’ review of the Sprint RAZR2 V9m. Well, Motorola has released another model already, the V8, the key difference being that it’s Linux powered.

Specs wise there is a WMP11 codec, a USB 2.0 interface, a touchscreen customized for music, 512MB of integrated storage and up to 2GB of (microSD?) user storage. You can also read text messages on the external display. There is quad band GSM/GPRS, a 2MP cam with MPEG4 video support and 8x zoom. The external display is the same 2” QVGA screen, the internal one is 2.2” same resolution as the external one.

I am so sick and tired of seeing Razr’s everywhere that when I saw someone carrying a Katana the other day, I was shocked. Yes I know there are other thin fashion phones out there, but if you tallied up the sales figures for all the various iterations of the original Razr I don’t think there would be many phones that could come even close.

So when I found out Motorola was going to try to capitalize on this form factor again, I thought to the movie industry where the sequels are generally worse than the original. Apparently that is not entirely the case, while the Moto Razr2 might not be worse than the original, I don’t think, based on Cnet’s review, it carries the timelessness that the Razr does.
