AMD's latest Radeon HD 6870 and 6850 GPUs are official, and ASUS has wasted no time slapping them into a couple of new video cards. However, they've also taken a few liberties and made some tweaks of their own; the ASUS EAH6850 DirectCU/2DIS/1GD5 and EAH6870/2DI2S/1GD5 cards are each overclocked out of the box, to 790MHz and 913MHz respectively, and they each get the company's Voltage Tweak tech which promises up to 50-percent performance boost over the AMD reference design.

ASUS EAH6850/EAH6870 video cards overclock and over-cool AMD’s new Radeons
AMD Radeon HD 6870 and HD 6850 teased ahead of Oct 22 launch
AMD has released teaser photos of its upcoming Radeon HD 6800-series graphics card, which the company claims will see an official reveal on Friday. According to ExtremeTech, the new cards - previously known as "Northern Islands" - will be the AMD Radeon HD 6870 and AMD Radeon HD 6850; however AMD is playing coy with specifications.

AMD’s Radeon HD 6700 Series Specs Leak Into the Wild, Offer Twice the Power
On a Chinese-based website called Chiphell, details on AMD's upcoming Radeon HD 6700 Series graphics cards broke cover, offering up pretty much every bit of detail that people would be interested in, all in an organized fashion. The new series is set to replace the Radeon 5700 series, and AMD (at least on the leaked image) says that the new series will offer up "twice the horsepower" compared to the previous chips.

AMD Retiring ATI Brand
Today AMD announced that they are retiring the ATI brand entirely from their branding and marketing. This is a move that I have been expecting for some time now since it has been one of the more prominent discussions at the last few AMD Analyst Summits I have attended.
It has become blatantly clear over the past few years that the “speeds and feeds” marketing by manufacturers of personal computers was becoming less relevant to the decision making process of mainstream consumers. Fujitsu LIFEBOOK AH530 GFX notebook packs external HD550v 1GB graphics
Fujitsu's latest external-graphics notebook has been revealed, the LIFEBOOK AH530 GFX, offloading its ATI Mobility Radeon HD550v 1GB video card to make for a more portable main unit. Based on May's original AH530, complete with optional Core i3, i5 or i7 processors, Blu ray or DVD drives, up to 8GB of RAM and up to 500GB HDD, the AH530 GFX gives desktop users an alternative to the standard notebook's Intel HD GPU.

Acer has unveiled its latest multimedia behemoth, the Acer Aspire AS8943G Series, a range of 18.4-inch Full HD aluminum-clad monsters each packing Intel Core i7 quadcore CPUs and Dolby Home Theatre support. HP ProBook 4425s Features AMD Quad-Core CPU on Sale Right Now
Just as HP promised, the HP ProBook 4425s has officially gone on sale. And, as HP is proud to boast, it's the first notebook from the company to feature an AMD quad-core processor option. Lenovo IdeaCentre A700 and B305 all-in-ones get optional touchscreens
Lenovo's IdeaCentre all-in-one range has been given a polish, with the IdeaCentre A700 getting an injection of Intel's Core 2010 processors (albeit from the laptop rather than the desktop range) and the IdeaCentre B305 raiding AMD's line-up instead, with a choice of Athlon II X4 CPUs. Each has optional touch-sensitivity, with the A700 using Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) technology more commonly found in medical settings. The A700 has a 23-inch Full HD widescreen display, while the B305 is a little smaller at 21.5-inches though still packs Full HD resolution.

The rest of HP’s new notebook range may not be quite as eye-catching as the ENVY 14 and ENVY 17, but there are still some gems in the line-up. The company have partnered with both AMD and Intel for their new Pavilion dm4, dv5, dv6 and dv7 consumer notebooks, together with the ProBook S-Series and B-Series of business-focused machines.
