ASUS Transformer Pad TF300 vs Prime Hands-on

We’ve had enough time now with the ASUS Transformer Pad TF300 that it’s finally time to put it to the test – a hardware-to-hardware comparison with its predecessor the Transformer Prime. What you’re going to see is that the first-ever tablet with an NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor as well as the first ever tablet with officially licensed Ice Cream Sandwich is so extremely similar to the TF300 that it’s difficult to tell the two apart. ARM unveils quad-core Cortex-A15 chip

The quad-core chips that you’ll find in products like the HTC One X and ASUS Transformer Prime are based on an ARM Cortex A9. ARM has unveiled a quad-core variant that will use the Cortex-A15 architecture. The chip can be clocked up to 2Ghz, is based on a 28nm architecture, and will use comparable power to current A9 processors. Read The Full Story

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 delayed for quad-core upgrade [UPDATE: Samsung denies]

The folks at Samsung have been tipped to be holding back the next steps in their tablet evolution with not only the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 but the Galaxy Note 10.1 as well, both of them set for an upgrade to quad-core processors at launch time. Both of these devices were originally set to have dual-core processors of one kind or another, but due to the extremely quickly changing times in the tablet market it seems, they'll be upgrading both to their next-generation Exynos chips with four CPU cores instead. Meizu announces MX Quad-core with Exynos processor

Just five months after the Meizu MX became official, it's getting the quad-core processor that the Chinese superphone was rumored to get in the first place. But this time there's a surprise: the MX Quad-core is using Samsung's Exynos A9 architecture for its system-on-a-chip, something that should make performance junkies ecstatic even without a given clock speed. Meizu announced the new phone today with a planned release in June, claiming a 60% increase in processor performance and a 50% jump in GPU performance over the previous version. Read The Full Story

This week we're getting our first look at the smartphone-based next-generation processors of two giants (Qualcomm and NVIDIA) as they sit on the HTC One series reviewed earlier today. What we're seeing is that not only are both of these chipmakers bringing heat to the processing world, they've begun a true war on battery conservation. The HTC One X smartphone contains NVIDIA's Tegra 3 quad-core processor with an extra core for low-powered tasks and sleeping, while the HTC One S contains the Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 chip, made also to keep itself conservative when it comes to draining your power.
