The Finns still aren't mentioning the Lumia 928 by name - though the video comparison is at the Lumia 928 page - but there's already an official image of the phone showing its aesthetic changes from the Lumia 920 and confirming the 8.7-megapixel PureView camera.

Nokia invests in Pelican array camera tech for PureView push

Nokia is set to further expand its camera expertise portfolio with a strategic investment in Pelican Imaging, a photography software specialist cooking up Lytro-style refocusable photos using array lenses. Pelican's system, which first broke cover back in 2011, uses an array of 25 densely-packed individual lenses, the data from which is combined - using Pelican's proprietary software - into a single, higher resolution still which can be post-tweaked for focus and even have 3D effects introduced.

We've heard ramblings of Nokia's upcoming rumored flagship before, known as the "EOS" or "Catwalk." This time around, we're hearing some really interesting tidbits of about the phone, most particularly that it'll come with an aluminum outer shell, and will be waterproof thanks to a special nano coating from P2i, which is a partnership that the company's allegedly worked out at Mobile World Congress last week.

Nokia tipped to bring 41 megapixel sensor to standard smartphones (again)

Nokia tipped to bring 41 megapixel sensor to standard smartphones (again)

This week The Guardian is tipping the world from one of their anonymous sources that Nokia may well be bringing their full-on Nokia 808 PureView 41 megapixel sensor to a set of standard smartphones in 2013. This tip comes from "sources close to the Finnish handset maker" and is indeed appearing to us to be just about as incredible as it may seem to you. What we'll likely see instead is a continuation of the Nokia Lumia 920's high-powered camera technology rather than the beast that is the lens configuration on the 808 - let's have a chat about why.

Nokia EOS Windows Phone tipped with “proper” PureView

Nokia Lumia 920 PureView camera hands-on vs iPhone 5

Nokia Lumia 920 PureView camera hands-on vs iPhone 5

The Nokia Lumia 920 has been marketed as a beast in the smartphone camera universe, and today we're having a peek at how it stands up against the iPhone 5. Nokia has marketed the Lumia 920, their top-class hero for Windows Phone 8, as having PureView imaging technology and a lovely Carl Zeiss lens to make it all click at 8 megapixels. Apple's iPhone 5 also has 8 megapixels under the hood and calls its amalgamation of technology "iSight" - with a reminder that the iPhone lineup has had the most popular camera in the world for several years running, even IF there are better cameras out there.

Nokia Lumia 920 PureView camera hands-on vs Samsung Galaxy S III

The Nokia Lumia 920 in its AT&T iteration has landed on the SlashGear test bench complete with PureView imaging and Carl Zeiss wide-angle optics this week - so of course it's immediately time to test it against the Samsung Galaxy S III. We'll be testing its camera against the iPhone 5 as well rather soon - and whatever other devices you request as well - but first it's time to battle one of the biggest competitors Nokia has in the field. The Samsung Galaxy S III wasn't originally pushed specifically on its photo-taking abilities nearly so much as the Lumia 920 has been, so pay close attention to how they compare in some real-world tests.

Nokia LTE Everything Everywhere Lumia 920 deal tipped; Apologizes again for PureView goof

Nokia LTE Everything Everywhere Lumia 920 deal tipped; Apologizes again for PureView goof

Nokia is reportedly planning an exclusive 4G deal with UK carrier Everything Everywhere for the Lumia 920,  a potential distraction from its second mea culpa over the faked camera sample goof. The UK exclusive would see Everything Everywhere - including T-Mobile UK and Orange - snap up the Windows Phone 8 device for a November launch, the Financial Times' sources say, echoing Nokia's sole-carrier deal with AT&T in the US on previous handsets. However, the new Lumia is still being overshadowed by Nokia's faking of the initial photography samples, something the company now says will be handled with an internal inquiry.
