The Force is strong with limited Darth Vader PS4 edition

It's still a good few months before we actually get to see what the Star Wars universe has in store after all these years, but that doesn't mean you can't hype it to death. And nothing says "hype" like a limited edition product with iconic Star Wars branding plastered all over it. This time, it's Sony's turn churn the marketing machine with not one but two Star Wars themed PS4 bundles. And, of course, they will be bearing the face and markings of the most iconic Star Wars character of all: Darth Vader.

PlayStation 4 still on top in July, says NPD

Microsoft may have wowed the crowd at Gamescom early this month, and may even have won hearts, but Sony is still winning wallets, at least in July and for now. Market research firm NPD has just given their report on the console gaming market in the US for the past month and Sony is only too happy to share it. That's because, despite not having new games for the season, both in general and for Sony specifically, the PlayStation 4 still ranked as the top console and its games the top software for July.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 debuts new art style at Gamescom

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 debuts new art style at Gamescom

The last time the upcoming Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 was shown off publicly was during E3 in June. It featured a graphics style that was very reminiscent of the series' classics THPS 1-4, albeit a bit more advanced because of today's gaming hardware. Characters were representative of the real-world skaters, even accounting for the older ages of some of them. That feeling of nostalgia extended to the game's controls and level designs. But at the Gamescom event in Germany this week, THPS5 is being presented with a slightly altered graphics style.

As it is now, each month sees two free games each for the PS4, PS3, and PS Vita, while lately there's been a lot of cross-buy titles, which makes a game available on two or all three of the systems. However, Sony has always been the one to choose the games.

ZombiU heading to PS4, Xbox One, and PC as ‘Zombi’

ZombiU heading to PS4, Xbox One, and PC as ‘Zombi’

It has been a few years since ZombiU, the zombie game for Nintendo's Wii U, made its first appearance. The game came about in 2012, and by summer 2013 its maker, Ubisoft, failed to see a profit from the game -- something that was more damning of the Wii U than anything else. The game was originally meant to be a Wii U exclusive, but a few years ago it was mentioned that it may arrive on other consoles, and the very poor reception on the Wii U spurred that toward reality.
