DICE’s Battlefield 4 will not use Microsoft’s Xbox Live Compute

DICE’s Battlefield 4 will not use Microsoft’s Xbox Live Compute

DICE's newest incarnation of Battlefield will launch on time but will not use Xbox Live Compute, Battlefield 4 executive producer Patrick Bach recently told Gamesindustry International. The game's development alongside the development of the Xbox One and PS4 consoles has prompted DICE to limit the game's cloud streaming functionality to its own servers. This will likely prove a wise move, as Watch Dogs and Driveclub see delays into next year and Grand Theft Auto Online recovers from server overloads that occurred on its release date earlier this month.

Foxconn PlayStation 4 labor policies broken for student interns

It would appear that the team responsible keeping labor policies intact for at least one Foxconn manufacturing plant in China is in it deep this week as a group of students was found to be working well beyond their normal allotment of intern hours. What we've got here is a set of student engineering majors headed for graduation at the Xi'an Institute of Technology working specifically on an order of Sony's next gaming console: the PlayStation 4. PlayStation DualShock 4 confirmed compatible with Windows PCs

This week it's been confirmed that the newest generation of Sony gaming peripherals - namely the DualShock 4 wireless controller - will be working with Windows machines. This is somewhat of a surprise revelation made by Sony for the PlayStation 4-aimed piece of equipment, mainly because there's no word from opposing camps (Nintendo for the WiiU and Microsoft for the Xbox One) of any sort of similar functionality for their controllers. Word comes from none other than Shuhei Yoshida, President of Worldwide Studios for Sony Computer Entertainment.

PlayStation 4 PSN boost will avoid GTA5-style download nightmare Sony says

Sony has committed to boosting the PlayStation Network in time for the PlayStation 4, after the online game arena faltered at the launch of Grand Theft Auto 5 leaving some players struggling to download or install the hotly-anticipated title. Concerns as to how the PS4 - which will feature bigger game downloads and more online components - would cope when the existing model could not left some would-be PlayStation 4 upgraders second-guessing their next-gen console selection. However, the gaming division's UK boss has insisted, that's not going to be the case.
