While the PlayStation 4 ships with a single, mono-audio earbud, the only premium headphones for the console from Sony have been the over-ear type. Now there will finally be another option to choose from, as Sony has just announced the In-ear Stereo Headset for PS4. The earbuds plug directly into the headphone jack on the DualShock 4 controller, and they even feature AudioShield technology, which filters out unwanted background noise to let players focus on the game's audio.

Strong PS4 sales help lead Sony to profits

For the last few years, Sony has been plagued with significant losses, mostly due to its ever struggling mobile division. Today, however, the Japanese tech giant has announced a profit of 33.6 billion yen (about $278 million) for the second quarter of fiscal 2015, and it once has its successful image sensor division, as well as continually strong PS4 sales, to thank. So much so, that Sony is even predicting a yearly operating profit of 320 billion yen ($2.64 billion).

Given how Twitch has become the go to platform for broadcasting game playthroughs and viewing such, you'd think it would be one of the first things the latest gen PlayStation 4 would have in its roster.
