When it goes on sale in June, the WiFi version will cost ¥24,980 (~$313) while the 3G version will be ¥29,980 (~$375).

Sony has released the PlayStation Suite Developer Program open beta, as promised, enabling coders to create games for the PS Vita, PlayStation-certified phones and tablets, and more. Available for PC only, the PlayStation Suite SDK 0.98 includes the PC Suite Studio and UI Composer for creating interfaces that take advantage of physical and touchscreen controls, as well as a simulator for testing out your handiwork.

Sony PlayStation Suite SDK open beta drops April

Sony's PlayStation Suite SDK will be released as an open beta in April 2012, the company has confirmed, allowing developers to create games and content for the PS Vita, as well as PlayStation Certified phones and tablets. Released in closed beta back in November, though only in the US, UK and Japan, the new open beta will broaden support to a greater number of countries. The full version of the SDK, meanwhile, will follow on later in 2012, with an annual fee of $99 for distribution through the PlayStation Store.

PS Vita ad funds Anonymous as Atari Teenage Riot donates fee

Sony has inadvertently found itself funding FreeAnons, after band Atari Teenage Riot agreed to one of its tracks being used in a PS Vita commercial but donated the fee to the Anonymous legal support group. Alex Empire of Atari Teenage Riot has some history with Sony - the company used a track of his without permission back in 1999 in a Handycam commercial - and so couldn't resist suggesting track Black Flags when the Japanese company came looking for music for its new Vita advertising campaign. The song contains multiple references to Anonymous and has been used in several Occupy Wall Street (OWS) promotional videos.

That's finally some good news for Sony, which has suffered an estimated $2.9 billion loss in revenue this past year.
