Nuclear Throne keeps 8-bit alive, battling on Mac, PC, PS4, and PS Vita

There's a game in development right this minute going by the name Nuclear Throne, developed by the same crew that made the cult classic Super Crate Box and appearing soon on PCs everywhere. This game is also in development for OS X (Mac, Apple computers), as well as PlayStation 4 and the PS Vita, readying itself for PC first and currently in Early Access mode for those of you on Steam. This game follows a little speck of a character through a collection of top-down levels that get increasingly more difficult as you traverse them - simple concept, but powerful results.

Mighty No. 9 hits Kickstarter goal as campaign reaches its end

Megaman has firm a place in the hearts of many, the evidence of which is blatant in the runaway success of its descendant -- Mighty No. 9's -- Kickstarter campaign. The funding goal was ambitious, seeking millions, yet saw its milestones reached at a clipped rate, such as the unlocking of PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii U versions back on September 17. The campaign reached its end on Kickstarter this evening, managing to hit its goal ahead of the countdown timer.

Sony has unveiled a new miniature video game console in Japan called the PS Vita TV. The device is an entertainment system designed to allow users to easily access streaming video services, games, and other types of content on the big screen TV in their home. Sony says that the PS Vita TV use the same chipsets and system software that the PS Vita portable console uses including an ARM cortex A9 CPU and IMG SGX543MP4+ GPU.

PS Vita 2000 revealed, thinner, lighter, more colorful

The giants of handheld gaming have been hitting quite a market problem brought about by the popularity of smartphones and tablets, leading them to gimmicks like price cuts and refreshed versions of old handheld lines. If there's one thing LucasArts was good at, it was getting to know 3rd-party game creators - that's essentially the base for their entire industry, after all. When you run a gaming company that's creating games that are (mostly) based in the Star Wars universe, you've got to work with a collection of developers - at least that's how it used to be, before Disney shut down LucasArts. Now the Third Party Relations team is happy to bring former LucasArts producer Gio Corsi aboard here several months after the closing of LucasArts in early 2013.
