Today is the big day in London for those anxiously awaiting the very first showing of the sci-fi epic Prometheus, and we're right there along with them on the red - or blue, rather - carpet! This event is taking place in Leicester Square with stars Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender, Guy Pearce, and Noomi Rapace as well as the director of the film Ridley Scott joining in on the fun tonight (or today, if you're joining us from the USA.) We'll be viewing the film as well as speaking with film producers, workers, and random Prometheus affiliates as they walk the carpet before the big show.

While we’re all getting pumped up for Prometheus, RIdley Scott is going to revisit another movie he directed in the not too distant future. It was announced back in August that Scott would helm an upcoming Blade Runner movie, and today it’s been revealed that the movie will be a sequel to the original starring Harrison Ford. Not only that, but the original writer of Blade Runner is onboard the project to help develop a story.

Prometheus Yutani viral addresses deceased Weyland

Prometheus Yutani viral addresses deceased Weyland

A brand new viral advertisement has been released today for the blockbuster science fiction film Prometheus, taking on this time the hereto-unmentioned Yutani corporation. Fans of the original Alien series will remember that the company that acts as antagonist in many situations goes by the name Weland-Yutani, this the combination of the company headed by Peter Weyland (played in this film by Guy Pierce) and the not-yet-mentioned (until now) Yutani group. This video shows the main protagonist of the film, researcher Dr. Elizabeth M. Shaw addressing none other than Weyland himself even though by the time she's the age she appears in the video here, Weyland should be long dead.

Prometheus “terror” trailer brings spoilers galore

Prometheus “terror” trailer brings spoilers galore

This week a trailer has been released of Prometheus - the Ridley Scott Alien universe movie coming out this summer - which shows more than its fair share of terrifying elements thus far kept under heavy wraps by the company. The company I'm speaking of is not Weyland Industries, but it may as well be since the press materials released for the movie up until now have been a straight up graphic design fantasy straight from the minds of the future science industry which will be sending our heroes to a far away planet to explore our past.

Prometheus stills released as fan community explodes

Prometheus stills released as fan community explodes

What might be the blockbuster film of the summer (if the Avengers weren't enough for you) Prometheus is celebrating its explosion of pre-release fans with a collection of film stills this week. These film stills show unseen elements in the soon to be released film including alien technology, close-ups of the actors in action on the various ships shown in the film, and a collection of ominous canopic jars. These stills add much to the notion that this film will indeed follow the Alien legacy started with the director that also commands this film, Ridley Scott.

Prometheus Analyzed: Space Jockeys

Prometheus Analyzed: Space Jockeys

Our week of Prometheus continues here with the alien race we'll be seeing here in the blockbuster of the summer: The Space Jockey. What we'll be doing here is moving through several of the most pointed scenes and tips we've received on the movie and hypothesizing on what we'll end up seeing here in the actual full-length film. The race of beings you'll see here that've thus far been called Space Jockeys will be appearing on the planet in the Zeta II Reticuli system we saw in the original Alien movie and Aliens, and their presence will be made clear not through some dormant mummy-like situation, but through the humans that visit the environment themselves.

Prometheus Analyzed: Facehuggers

Prometheus Analyzed: Facehuggers

This week we're dropping a selection of analyzations of the upcoming blockbuster science fiction of the summer Prometheus, and it all starts with the demon spawn that always comes first in an Alien film: the facehugger. This creature was the last being expected to pop up by fans of the original Alien as Ridley Scott himself several times noted that this film would be an entirely different entity, but lo and behold the newest trailer has revealed a new iteration of that animal once more. Let's have a look at what we can infer from what we've seen so far.

3ality Technica speaks on Prometheus: ‘the best experience possible with 3D’

This week we sat down with 3D rig and software company 3ality Technica's Stephen Pizzo to discuss their newest products and how they played a part in the filming of recent giant Hollywood films as Prometheus. Turns out, Pizzo (3ality Technica's senior vice president) told us, it was Head Cinematographer Dariusz Wolski that convinced Ridley Scott that 3D was a possibility for a film such as the Alien prequel Prometheus - and that with the gear that was available today, they could film the movie the with the same ease and precision they'd be afforded with 2D equipment. In fact, 3D was made possible with essentially no extra effort on the part of the film crew; read on for the first part of the full SlashGear interview.

Watch this: Prometheus viral introduces us to David

We’re not going to lie to you: we’re stoked for Prometheus, the upcoming prequel to the Alien movies, directed by franchise helmer Ridley Scott.
