We’ve seen our fair share of pico and pocket projectors here at SlashGear, but recently we’ve had the pleasure to work with and review one of the most portable and brightest of them all, a pico with an 80 lumen engine — the AAXA P4 Pico Projector. There are many different uses for a portable projector and whether they are an expensive toy, or a needed accessory is up to you. Pico projectors are all the rage, but if you need some premium functionality in a package that's more luggabble than pocketable, Panasonic's got your back with a trio of new models. The PT-LW25HU, PT-LX30HU and PT-LX26HU projectors (catchy!) weigh in at a scant 6.6 pounds each, with dimensions that are just barely bigger than a college textbook at 13.7 by 4.1 by 9.7 inches. Ranging in price from $849 to $1,099, the projectors slide into the middle range of Panasonic's line.

Velocity Micro is out to grab some news ahead of the CES 2012 show kicking off this month. The company has unveiled a new DLP projector called the Shine. The little projector has 300 lumens of brightness and a native resolution of 1280 x 768. That means it supports 720p. The DLP chip is from TI and the projector has 1.4:1 throw ratio. The tiny projector weighs nine ounces and is about 4-inches long on the longest side.

Mitsubishi has its fingers into a lot more than just making cars. That line of automobiles is probably what Mitsubishi is most known for though. The company has unveiled a new concept dashboard system for cars called emirai. The concept looks really cool and reminds me of the dash from a Star Trek shuttle craft. The concept dashboard uses a projector rather than normal gauges.

RED looks set to show off its much-rumored 4K laser projector in its first public demo, with the camera company's RED Studios Hollywood running a demo reel on the new kit for a military-themed "RED Ops Night." Described as an event "to educate and expose the most cutting edge Red technology to military personnel involved in all areas of media and public relations" the show takes place in Los Angeles tonight.

Acer has announced two new products that will launch today and can convert your 2D content to 3D for you to enjoy. The products are the HR274H 3D computer display and the new H9500BD projector. The new display has a cool Acer chip-based 3D conversion solution to turn 2D into 3D with no software required. The display also uses passive polarized glasses that are much cheaper than active 3D glasses.

LG has unveiled a new projector that home theater fans will really like. The new projector is the big and powerful CF3DAT. This 3D cinema projector has the power to throw a 200-inch image and supports 2D and 3D content. The projector is very bright with 1250 ANSI lumens in 3D mode. That makes the projector about six times brighter than other premium projectors.

Eastman Kodak has not handled the transition to digital photography as gracefully as its competitors, but when your company's over a century old, staying nimble isn't as easy as it used to be. Of course, a company with that much history has an overabundance of intellectual property, and that fact might help Kodak stay relevant in a market that has been outpacing it for several years. Kodak has announced a deal with IMAX to license its laser projection patents to the movie company, allowing it to more effectively project digital films on its gigantic screens.
