Picture 1AT&T just released an official statement regarding the blocking of Google Voice from Apple’s App Store, and it looks like they’re taking absolutely no blame for the situation. This time around, AT&T is being very clear in their statement, coming from AT&T’s Senior Executive Vice President, external and legislative affairs, Jim Cicconi. He states that AT&T had nothing to do with it simply and bluntly, but it looks like there’s more to the story.

HP have announced a new range of workstations, the HP Z Workstation series, using Intel’s Xeon processor and more than 20 design innovations.  SlashGear had the opportunity to see the Z-series demonstrated as part of HP and DreamWorks’ Monsters vs. Aliens event last week, from the entry-level HP Z400 models, through the mid-range HP Z600 machines and up to the high-spec HP Z800 workstations.

HTC have announced two new devices at MWC today, the HTC Touch Diamond2 and the HTC Touch Pro2, each updates of the original devices. The Touch Diamond2 has a 3.2-inch VGA touchscreen display, while the Touch Pro2 has a 3.6-inh WVGA touchscreen and a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Both run Windows Mobile, currently 6.1 but we’re expecting to hear that each will ship with 6.5 when Microsoft officially announce it – as expected – later on today.

Sony Ericsson’s Idou may be far from complete, but that didn’t stop the company pulling out the limited number of pre-production demo units they had and running through a quick showcase of some of the touchscreen smartphone’s features.  Headline functionality for the Idou is the 12.1-megapixel autofocus camera with Xenon flash, 3.5-inch VGA-resolution touchscreen and new Symbian Foundation OS; check out our live demo video and full gallery after the cut.

HP just announced the TouchSmart tx2, the company’s very first multi-touch convertible notebook for consumers.  I had a chance to meet with HP earlier today to demo out the TouchSmart tx2 as well as a walk through by Kevin Wentzel, HP’s Technical Marketing Manager for the Mobility Global Business unit.  I like what I saw so far, especially considering this is only version 1.0.

HTC London Event May 6I just received a detailed itinerary for the HTC London press event on Tuesday May 6, 2008. I arrive in London at 8:45 AM, registration starts at 11:00 AM and the HTC press event kicks off at 11:30AM. I have a briefing with HTC CIO, Horace Luke at 3:30 to 4:00 PM. There’s a cocktail event with HTC’s CEO Peter Chou at 5:00 PM and dinner at 7:30 PM. HTC’s Chief Designer will be attending so looks like I’ll have an opportunity to pick his brain on HTC’s next wave of innovation. Make sure to stay follow the event in real time via http://live.phonemag.com.

HTC isn’t releasing what the press event will entail, but if what’s been rumored over the past weeks are indeed true, then we will witness the birth of the HTC Diamond, HTC Touch Pro and perhaps Mr. Chou will dazzle us with the highly anticipated Android-powered Dream phone.

The press release is in French, so I suppose I could give them a break on the spelling. The deal is they are trying to create a companion to a regular cell phone. It would offer up a lot of the web capabilities of a normal cell phone, but on a larger screen, over WiFi, and with a full keyboard.

Everyone knows that the iPhone and iPod touch use flash memory, everyone also likely knows that such memory is quite expensive. So, it comes at no surprise that doubling said flash storage in the iPhone and iPod Touch would be a pricey venture, no?
