Polytron's Fez, despite being an indie title that's exclusive to the Xbox 360, was easily one of the best games of the year. It's no surprise, then, that fans are wondering when Polytron will begin porting the game to other platforms, if it ever does at all. We've heard whispers of such ports in the past, but nothing was ever made official... until today, that is.

Microsoft responds to Fez patch controversy

Fez creator Phil Fish has been making a lot of headlines lately. He recently penned a blog post on Polytron's website which said that the Fez patch that has caused save corruption issues for some players will be going back up on Xbox Live unchanged because the company can't afford to pay the fee to get a new patch certified. The blog post caused something of an uproar in the gaming community, and up until today, Microsoft remained silent on the issue.

Fez patch not getting fixed because Polytron can’t afford it

There's no denying that Polytron's Fez is one of the coolest downloadable games of the year, but unfortunately, a small percentage of players can't actually enjoy the game. Shortly after Fez released on Xbox Live Arcade, Polytron issued a patch that was intended to fix some minor gameplay issues, but ended up creating a whole new mess of problems for a few players. For some, this patch led to corrupted save files, deleting all of the progress affected users had made in the game.
