Cowon iAudio 9 gets the teardown treatment

We can't say we've exactly been over-anxious to see what's inside Cowon's iAudio 9 PMP, but nor will we turn our noses up at a glance inside the slender mediaplayer's casing.  iMP3 bravely sacrificed a box-fresh iAudio 9 for a teardown, and it's a pretty impressive shrinking down of technology. Zune HD getting colorful update December 1st

, Nov 30th 2009 Discuss [0]

Up until now the colorful part of the Zune HD has been its striking OLED display; if you wanted any color in your Microsoft PMP then you'd have to resort to a third-party skin or case.  That's set to change tomorrow, however, according to the official Zune store, which has tipped three new colors - Magenta, Red and Purple - as arriving on December 1st. Apple iPod touch with camera coming this Spring?

, Nov 23rd 2009 Discuss [0]

The firestorm of speculation earlier this year regarding whether Apple would push a camera-toting iPod touch out of the door at their now-traditional September music event, turned out to be a damp squib; the new iPod touch was faster and more capacious than its predecessor, but had no camera functionality (despite Apple's engineers leaving space inside for one).  Now, the Examiner are claiming to have heard from "an insider source" that the camera-equipped iPod touch will in fact land this spring. , Nov 23rd 2009 Discuss [1]

Remember Apple's iPod Bluetooth headset patent application, which polarized opinion back at the end of October?  That seems to have at least partially inspired SlashGear's Apple concept merchant of choice, Isamu Sanada, who has come up with a clever iPod shuffle design that can be attached to both regular earbuds and a flexible headset. Cowon iAudio 9 PMP gets unboxed

, Nov 17th 2009 Discuss [0]

Perhaps it's a 2009 thing and, come the new year, packaging will won't enthral us so, but for now there's a great deal of geeky appeal in how manufacturers choose to present their tech.  Cowon have generally been associated more with audio performance than they have with style, but it looks like some of the "shape up" message is getting through: DAP Review have just taken delivery of the iAudio 9 PMP, and as their unboxing photoset shows there's obviously been a lot of thought put into how it's packaged. , Oct 20th 2009 Discuss [0]

There's slim, and then there's wafer-thin-mint skinny, and it's obviously the latter that Cube's new H600HDMI PMP is aspiring to.  The 5-inch mediaplayer has an 800 x 480 resolution display, can cope with decoding up to 768p/30Mb media and is capable of outputting 720p/1080i video via its HDMI port, but most strikingly it's just 6.99mm thick.
