Sony has offered up the official sales numbers for the Christmas season of 2011 that is just behind us. According to the company, it moved a total of 6.5 million PlayStation devices combined during the shopping season. That total includes the PS Vita, PS2, PS3, and PSP.

AT&T Playstation Vita 3G drops Feb 22; data pricing confirmed
This week Kuni Suzuki of Sony spoke at the AT&T Developer Conference on the Sony PlayStation Vita, the Sony Tablet P, and other items - but of course you know the Vita itself, on AT&T's 3G network here and now, is the hero. E3 2012 may be the biggest show ever, new Wii U, Xbox and PS4 tease
If you can believe the rumors that are floating around right now, E3 2012 might be the biggest show ever. The rumors are pegging launch details of the Wii U to turn up at the show, and scuttlebutt says that the new Xbox and PS4 will be teased at the show as well. Is your PlayStation Vita fixed?
When a gaming company apologizes for a device they've released, you know good and well that they're at the mercy of their customers - this is just what's happened with Sony's PlayStation Vita not one week after its release in Japan, and a firmware fix does appear to be on the way. Reports surrounded the launch of 300,000 device sold in just the first weekend of its release, and since then (three days, approximately), complaints about unresponsive touchscreens, freezes, and crashes have mounted to a level that Sony's found it necessary to offer up an apology. Future users should take comfort in the idea that this may well only be a temporary set of issues, mind you, which should be fixed up in time for 2012 to roll around - our question for you current users is this: are you having troubles right this minute?

PS Vita details surface on Trophies, remote play, and more
Sony's PS Vita has already sold out in pre-orders for its December 17 launch in Japan, but it won't be heading to the states until February 22. Nonetheless, we can indulge in new details on the device that have been revealed in the English version of the console's user guide, which Sony has made available online. Main things to note are the way Trophies are earned on the PS Vita, how backups are saved, and the Remote Play feature.

Sony PlayStation Video Store viral ads have us questioning our effects skills
Sony is showing off their PlayStation Store's Video Store with a set of "Most Insane Immersive Movie Experience EVER" spots that show off how utterly awesome it is to pick up and watch movies straight from your gaming console, and they're pretty darn cool. Each of these videos is done in a way that impresses the viewer more than anything, showing them what's possible in a room filmed by a camera to produce a video with absolutely no after-effects that looks like it was done with nothing BUT after-effects. This does have a tie back to the idea that the PlayStation Store has videos for sale, but who cares! Have a look at how awesome your entertainment can be with PS3!

Sony PlayStation 3D Display delayed in Europe until 2012
Sony's PlayStation 3D Display will miss its 2011 European launch target, with stock delays pushing the gaming-centric monitor's release back into 2012. The 3D screen went on sale in the US earlier this month, offering either a single gamer 3D play or two gamers independent views from the same panel, but retailers are warning that their suppliers can no longer deliver stock in time to be giftwrapped this holiday season.

Sony accepting apps for PlayStation Suite dev program closed beta
We talked a bit about the PlayStation Suite program back in September when we first caught wind of the new dev program. The point of the PS Suite program is to allow the developers to make games and other apps that will run on the coming Vita portable console as well as Android devices. The PlayStation Suite SDK will allow the games to be played on Android devices that aren’t Sony branded as well.

Sony Just Bought Its Future
Sony, with a $1.47bn check, just bought back its destiny. In agreeing to buy out Ericsson’s 50-percent stake in the Sony Ericsson smartphone partnership, the Japanese company brings to an end a decade of collaboration; more importantly, though, it buys the opportunity for Sony to come up to speed with its rivals and – if it leverages its strengths correctly – overtake Samsung, LG and even Apple in the consumer electronics market. “We can more rapidly and more widely offer consumers smartphones, laptops, tablets and televisions” CEO Howard Stringer promised in the announcement, “that seamlessly connect with one another and open up new worlds of online entertainment.” Big words, but Sony is one of the few companies that could ever deliver on them.
Sony PS Vita browser won’t support Flash at launch
According to a report from Japanese publication Weekly Famitsu, the web browser on Sony's next-generation portable gaming device, the PlayStation Vita, will not support Adobe Flash at launch. It will support cookies, JavaScript 1.7, and some HTML5, but Flash didn't make the list. Also not supported are Game Archives that include classic PlayStation One games.

PlayStation Suite to hit non-Sony Android devices
Sony may finally be loosening up its grip on the PlayStation suite platform. Currently, the platform is only available to Sony-branded Android devices, including the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play, Sony Tablet S and Sony Tablet P. In an interview at the AsiaD conference, Sony Computer Entertainment Chairman Kaz Hirai confirmed that the company was working on having the platform available on other non-Sony devices.
