Sony’s Playstation Vue to be the latest TV service for cord-cutters

Netflix, Hulu, and Yahoo Screen are some of the bigger names in the new business of television programming without a traditional paid-television service. Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) will be joining these cord-cutting services soon. SCE is launching a new online TV service called Playstation Vue which will be available through the Playsation Network to Playstation 3 and Playstation 4 console users. Sony wants to change the way users experience the Playstation Network. They've expanded their service from offering games to including a Spotify service for music. The Playstation Vue will now be adding cable-free TV programming to the mix.

Sony teases details of PS4 2.50 “Yukimura” update

Xbox One owners just got their happy dose of monthly updates, finally bringing in a most requested feature: screenshots! Soon, it will the PlayStation 4 camp's turn to rejoice when system firmware version 2.50 rolls around. Codenamed "Yukmura", the massive update will also deliver some of the functionality that have been most requested by users, which including being able to easily suspend and then resume their PS4 gaming session. Of course, that's not the only goodies that firmware 2.50 will bring to the gaming table.

Back in late 2013 we had our first opportunity to bring a magical experience to our living room with the PS4 game "PlayRoom." This game worked with the PlayStation 4 Camera, showing us our living room onscreen with augmented reality characters and objects galore. This week we've been given our first glimpse of what PlayRoom will look like in virtual reality, with Project Morpheus in 2016. These demos were the last part of the collection of early visions we were shown by Japan Studio, the same group of developers that made The PlayRoom.

Sony Project Morpheus release set for 2016 with 120Hz display

This afternoon Sony suggested that their Project Morpheus VR headset would be launching in the first half of the year 2016. They also said that this new and improved headset - still tethered to the PlayStation 4 - would be "targeting" 120Hz display tech - that's intense. As Shuhei Yoshida said today, Sony is "one step closer to realizing our vision of making virtual reality a reality in games." This week the PlayStation 4-centric Project Morpheus VR headset will be shown off to developers who wish to work with the headset in the near future - for PS4 games, of course.

Turned 18? Now you can turn your PSN sub account into a master

Even gamers grow older. There comes a time when a young gamer reaches a certain legal number of years where he or she can get access to content previously unavailable to them, legally or otherwise. When that coming of age does arrive, Sony will now let them easily gradate from a PSN Sub Account to a Master Account as easily as flicking a switch. Sony says this is a much requested feature and, considering that a lot of gamers probably turn 18 every year, it's somewhat puzzling it took them this long to implement it.
