PlayStation Network down for scheduled maintenance today

If you're a big fan of PlayStation gaming, you need to be aware that Sony has announced PlayStation Network will be down for almost the entire day today. Sony is saying that the PlayStation Network will be off-line for routine scheduled maintenance Thursday, February 2 from about 6 AM until midnight PST. This is certainly an extended outage that will bother some users since it's right in the middle of the time when most use the PlayStation Network.

For those of you wondering why the PlayStation Network is down today, they're currently letting the world know that they're going to be down until 9PM PST for maintenance. And just like a fleet of Vogons, they remind us all that it was posted yesterday in a place where everyone could very easily have seen it, the PlayStation Blog. This down time started at 8AM PST and will last until tonight for essentially all services, so you'll just have to play with yourself or a friend nearby until then.

Sega's classic arcade shooter House of the Dead will be making another appearance in the land of console gaming this year. House of the Dead: Overkill Extended Cut, once Wii exclusive, was released for the PlayStatoin 3 last year. Soon that won't be the only House of the Dead title available to PS3 users. Today Sega announced that House of the Dead 3 and House of the Dead 4 will be available as downloadable titles via the PlayStation Network.

PlayStation Network to be offline for a full day of maintenance tomorrow

Sony has just announced via its PlayStation Network blog that the online gaming platform will be undergoing a routine scheduled maintenance tomorrow, November 17. However, this one isn't quite as routine as the system will be offline for almost a full day starting from 8am to 10pm PST. Sony did not detail reasons for the long maintenance period nor what improvements to the platform, if any, can be expected afterwards.
