PlayStation Orbis and Xbox 720 both restrict “used” games
Console game giants Microsoft and Sony may be ushering in a new era of media control with their Xbox 720 and PlayStation Orbis systems as both have been tipped this month to be placing unheard-of controls on so-called "used" games. These tips would have the next-generation console gaming systems both cutting down on game rental and sales services like GameStop and would essentially put online re-sales of games at a standstill. How this will affect sales of the consoles themselves is yet to be seen.

PlayStation Network is down for 14hrs on Sunday
Worry not, gamers; the PlayStation Network downtime today is Sony's intended maintenance, not the signs of something nefarious. The scheduled inaccessibility for PS3 and PS Vita gamers is set to last fourteen hours solid - from just after noon Pacific until approximately 2am Pacific on Monday, March 5 - during which time any users signed in will be kicked out, and no new sign-ins will be allowed.

Sony has announced that its PlayStation Network will be renamed Sony Entertainment Network starting tomorrow, February 7. The rebranding is only a name change and does not affect usernames and passwords. However, current PlayStation Network account users are encouraged to look over the new Terms of Service and User Agreement.

PlayStation Network down until midnight: it’s not just you
Sony's web-connected PlayStation Network has been taken down for maintenance today, a scheduled event ending at midnight PST. This event was planned well in advance and, unlike the break-downs and hacks of 2011, is nothing to worry about as far as gamers personal data and security on the whole goes. This maintenance began early this morning at 6 AM PST and will be fully complete by tomorrow.

If you're a big fan of PlayStation gaming, you need to be aware that Sony has announced PlayStation Network will be down for almost the entire day today. Sony is saying that the PlayStation Network will be off-line for routine scheduled maintenance Thursday, February 2 from about 6 AM until midnight PST. This is certainly an extended outage that will bother some users since it's right in the middle of the time when most use the PlayStation Network.

For those of you wondering why the PlayStation Network is down today, they're currently letting the world know that they're going to be down until 9PM PST for maintenance. House of the Dead 3 & 4 Releasing for the PS3
Sega's classic arcade shooter House of the Dead will be making another appearance in the land of console gaming this year. House of the Dead: Overkill Extended Cut, once Wii exclusive, was released for the PlayStatoin 3 last year. Soon that won't be the only House of the Dead title available to PS3 users. Today Sega announced that House of the Dead 3 and House of the Dead 4 will be available as downloadable titles via the PlayStation Network.

PlayStation Network to be offline for a full day of maintenance tomorrow
Sony has just announced via its PlayStation Network blog that the online gaming platform will be undergoing a routine scheduled maintenance tomorrow, November 17. However, this one isn't quite as routine as the system will be offline for almost a full day starting from 8am to 10pm PST. Sony did not detail reasons for the long maintenance period nor what improvements to the platform, if any, can be expected afterwards.
