Asia to get rare MGS 5 PS4 model in honor of Snake

It won't be long now and Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain will be landing in the market. And to celebrate that momentous occasion, Sony and Konami have worked together to come out with a special limited edition of the PlayStation 4 that bears the unmistakable markings of the franchise' protagonist, Snake. Now, while it isn't yet sure what will be bundled with the console, though best guess is MGS 5: The Phantom Pain, that might not matter to those in the US and Europe, as the variant will be an Asian exclusive.

Sony's virtual reality presentation this week at GDC 2015 was delivered to the public in several tiers. First there was the Project Morpheus release date and updated specifications for the headset. That bit was revealed during a press conference. Then came the demoes and the data on what's next. That came in a developer-aimed talk that we're about to show you the juicy bits of right this minute. Sony PS4 sells more than 20.2 million units

The latest battle of the console wars was Microsoft's Xbox One pitted against Sony's Playstation 4. The results are in from Sony, and it looks like they have come out of the battle ahead in the game. Today Sony reported that is has sold more than 20.2 million Playstation 4's. This makes it the "fastest and strongest growth" game system in Playstation's twenty-one year history, according to Sony. Microsoft has yet to report their sales figures for 2015. Even at the end of last year the Xbox One's sales were close, but they were still lagging behind Sony's Playstation 4.

Sony Project Morpheus release set for 2016 with 120Hz display

This afternoon Sony suggested that their Project Morpheus VR headset would be launching in the first half of the year 2016. They also said that this new and improved headset - still tethered to the PlayStation 4 - would be "targeting" 120Hz display tech - that's intense. As Shuhei Yoshida said today, Sony is "one step closer to realizing our vision of making virtual reality a reality in games." This week the PlayStation 4-centric Project Morpheus VR headset will be shown off to developers who wish to work with the headset in the near future - for PS4 games, of course.

Tinertia hands-on: hardcore platformer, no jump button

That's what they say, the creators of Tinertia, they say it's a "Hardcore platformer. No jump button." Indeed it does seem to be, and what we've experienced at GDC 2015 temps us to suggest that it rocks. While we're big fans of the jump button (a classic button, indeed), we're also big fans of moving the gaming universe forward with non-traditional controls. A rocket-launcher as a primary controller in a side-scrolling game is just as good a controller as any - in fact for this sort of arena, it's better.

When it comes to JRPGs, it isn't only Final Fantasy that has a large following. Equally revered is the Dragon Quest series that is making a comeback through mobile devices. It's no secret that thus far the PlayStation 4 is winning the current game console war against the Xbox One. The muddled announcements of the latest Xbox with restrictive features and the previous requirement of the always listening camera meant from launch the system was playing catch-up to Sony's PS4.
