New Need for Speed game will require constant online connection

Now that it has been revealed that a new entry in the Need for Speed game series is coming this year and will act as a "reboot" of the franchise, players have been wondering what they can expect this time around. Publisher EA has recently taken to answering some questions on Twitter, and yesterday stated in one reply that the game will require and internet connection at all time to be played. This sort of thing may sound familiar, as it was a controversial part of Microsoft's initial announcement of the Xbox One console.

Capcom removes Ultra Street Fighter 4 from tournament, blames Sony for bugs

Following the recent news that the release of Ultra Street Fighter IV for the PlayStation 4 has a large number of bugs and glitches, the game's developer Capcom has said that it will be pulled from the official Street Fighter tournaments, taking place this summer. Among the problems with USF4 reported, including audio issues and animation problems, the most damaging has been input lag, or delays between button presses and in-game movements/actions. As Street Fighter is built on some of the most precise timing mechanisms, lag of this sort would be devastating during a tournament.

Christopher Lloyd returns as Doc Brown for LEGO Dimensions

A new trailer for LEGO Dimensions is released with Christopher Lloyd reprising his role as Doc Brown from Back to the Future. One of several "Dimensions" in this LEGO game is Back to the Future, with Doc himself appearing as a playable character. Also appearing is Marty McFly, along with the first appearance of the LEGO Hoverboard. Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment reveal this morning more gameplay from the LEGO Dimensions multiverse. Now we'll just be crossing our fingers for far more Biff Tannen.

DOOM gameplay teaser has us flipping out for E3

This week the folks at Bethesda have given us just a few seconds of footage from the next DOOM. This footage isn't gameplay, strictly speaking, but it does tease gameplay that'll be shown at E3 2015, so they say. NPD: Mortal Kombat X was April’s top game, 3DS sales spiked

The NPD Group has released its numbers for April, and overall things looked good for the gaming industry. As you might have expected, Mortal Kombat X (check out our review) took the #1 slot in terms of bestselling games (GTA V came in second), and things were looking particularly good for portable console sales — Nintendo’s 3DS saw a large jump in sales over the first four months of this year in comparison to last year, with a 65% or so increase.

Remember back in December when Sony announced the 20th Anniversary Edition of the PlayStation 4, with only 12,300 units to be sold worldwide? Well, the company has received a scolding of sorts over how the limited edition console was sold in the UK. Here in the U.S., the system was thrown up on a website at a random time, and whoever could click "checkout" fast enough was a winner. Unfortunately for those in Britain, the process was much more convoluted, and involved a contest of sorts that focused on solving riddles from a website. Potential buyers were left frustrated, and now their complains have been recognized.

That dinosaur game works in VR with Oculus Rift

ARK: Survival Evolved is announced to be coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Steam for PCs with Oculus Rift support. This game was first revealed in incognito mode earlier this month, and just this week was shown to the public with support for virtual reality headsets. Thus far Project Morpheus for PlayStation 4 and Oculus Rift by Oculus VR have been confirmed. Whether or not Valve's own Steam VR will work with the system is still up in the air. We're guessing that YES, it probably will work - and there'll be dragons, too!

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate gameplay trailer tells all pre-alpha release

Ubisoft releases the first trailer for Assassin's Creed Syndicate, a game based in London at the dawn of the modern era. This game has you playing as Jacob Frye (or his sister), fighting for justice "on behalf of London's enslaved working class." This game has everything - top hats, Big Ben, underground fight clubs, human skewers on assassin's blades. It's just the works. This game should also take what was with Assassin's Creed Unity and amp it up a level - up to 11. Up to the place where Tower Bridge was born.
