The development team at Edge of Reality have been revealed as the new commanders of the next Transformers video game with Activision keeping command over publishing rights. With Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark, we’ve got a battle over Earth - with battles on our own, home planet, this time around, while it’s quite possible much of the rest of the game will center around rather similar gameplay to past Transformers releases. Here we’ve got a Story Campaign mode as well as co-op Escalation modes appearing in this game’s first data push.
This week we're taking a look at the bigger picture when it comes to reviews of the game Call of Duty: Ghosts. When we first published our (still in progress) review of Call of Duty: Ghosts earlier this year, it was shocking to see how big of a backlash was issued at the hands of gamers that'd purchased the title and disagreed with our (mostly positive) assessment on a level so great that we were accused of publishing a paid review (which, for the record, we never, ever do.) Here we're taking a peek at some of the biggest complaints users have with the game.
This afternoon the folks at Ubisoft have shared 13 minutes of gameplay from the game South Park: The Stick of Truth. While we've seen our fair share of comments on how this game would be stuck in developmental heck for extended periods of time, all signs now point toward a scheduled release, believe it or not. Today we get to meet the New Kid - aka you, the player of the game - as he meets the guys and starts his journey in this very episode-like game.
This week the game Bound by Flame has been introduced to the public by its developers at Spiders Studio. This game is set to inflict a bit of classic RPG storytelling on the current generation of gaming consoles and the PC, complete with the Dark Fantasy genre at the helm. This game will be coming to PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, gaming PCs, and PlayStation 4 inside of the second quarter of 2014.
This week at the media event where Sony announced the PlayStation Vita Slim, hardware marketing executive John Koller spoke up on the future of the PlayStation 3. For those of you out there already rolling with this console, not planning on upgrading to a PlayStation 4 any time soon - there's good news. In Koller's chat with Gamespot, the PlayStation 3 was said to have two, three, or four years of life left in it, with plenty of games to come.
This week it's become clear that the next Alien franchise game will be not only a multi-console, multi-tiered release, it'll also be as much the terror-infused survival game as the original Alien movie made us wish for. Of course we've got a long way to go before the game actually hits stores, but for now it's looking like the controversial inclusion of Ellen Ripley's daughter in the script is taking a back seat to the idea that this will be everything but a straight-up translation of Alien to a first-person game.
When one chooses which next-generation console to purchase, one oft-cited factor is the price: the Xbox One is going to run you an extra $100 over the PS4. Microsoft seems to be targeting that particular issue with its new trade-in promotion, which offers gamers $100 in store credit towards an Xbox One in exchange for their old Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3.
Every new console generation brings up questions about backward compatibility with previous, and sometimes more well-loved, games. Tough nothing official has been disclosed, sources close to the matter have revealed that the latest PlayStation 4 will practically support titles from the PlayStation 1 and PlayStation 2 via hardware emulation.
