Panasonic‘s new GH3 is expected to be at Photokina later this month, but ahead of its appearance there, it seems that a spec list for the camera has leaked. The leaked list comes courtesy of 43Rumors, which has given us details on the Panasonic GH3 quite a few times in the past. 43Rumors claims that these specifications come from a trusted source, so the list we have posted after the jump might just be the line up of hardware and features the GH3 will launch with.

Still, it’s always best to take things like this with a grain of salt, regardless of how trustworthy the sources may be. A leaked list like this is hardly confirmation from Panasonic, but we do have to say that if it’s accurate, then the GH3 will be launching with some sexy specs. The rumors have said that this is a camera worth checking out after it launches, and apparently Panasonic wants the GH3 to hold its own against other high-end DSLR APS-C cameras.

In order to do that, it’s going to have to be packing some really solid features and hardware, and with that goal, Panasonic has its work cut out for it. Take a look at the full list of leaked specs:

• 16 Megapixel “Wide dynamic range” CMOS Sensor
• New Venus 7 engine
• Electronic shutter
• ISO 100-12.800
• 6fps
• Fastest AF of any interchangeable lens system camera
• Video Bitrate 50Mbps (72Mbps ALL-I)
• 30p/25p in MP4, MOV and AVCHD
• 3.5 Mic in
• Built-in stereo mic
• Audio out
• PC control
• Time Code
• 1740k OLED LVF, Touch Monitor OLED 610k.
• External battery grip
• Wifi with remote control through iOS and Android Applications
• External XLR accessory
• Focus Peaking
• Interval shooting and slow motion. Slow Movie extension (40%, 50%, 80%) Fast 160 / 200 / 300%
• Magnesium alloy body. Body is bigger than the Panasonic GH2.

The price of the GH3 is still unknown, but don’t expect it be cheap while sporting those specs. An interesting thing to note is that 43Rumors says this spec list has a “81-99% chance” of being correct, so take that how you will. As stated above, Panasonic is expected the have the GH3 at Photokina (which kicks off on September 18), so we may not have much longer to wait until we find out if this spec list is legitimate.

Display technology is improving, and the customer is benefiting from it. LaCie has just unveiled a brand new 24-inch display meant for the professional market, and it’s packing enough pixels in there that the company says it will provide you with “lifelike clarity.” The 10-bit P-IPS LCD display is indeed packing quite the feature set, and it’s probably more than enough to make anyone out there in need of a display to show off all of their pictures and movies to take a second look.

Of course, the monitor isn’t just for those who like to look at their photos, or edit them. LaCie wants a wide range of professional users, like web designers and illustrators, to take a look at their pixel-packing display. The 324i features a 10bit P-IPS LCD display, with a wide color gamut that reaches 102% NTSC and 98% Adobe RGB. Professional hardware monitor calibration is also included, making sure that you get the best picture, all the time. The display itself boasts a resolution of 1920 x 1200, and the viewing angle is measured at 178-degrees, and has an anti-glare coating.

You’ll find a DisplayPort, DVI-D, HDMI, and Component ports, which should hopefully be more than enough for your needs. The stand itself is multifunctional, and will let you alter the display for either a landscape or vertical view. Finally, rounding out the specs, you’ll get a contrast ratio of 1000:1, an integrated cable manager, and you’ll find three USB 3.0 ports, too. LaCie is already offering the 324i, and you can pick it up right now for $1,249.99.

Press Release

LaCie Delivers Next Generation 24″ Display with a Premium IPS Panel

• 10-bit P-IPS LCD panel for superior uniformity
• Wide color gamuts, 102% NTSC, 98% Adobe RGB
• Professional hardware monitor calibration
• DisplayPort, DVI-D, HDMI, Component
• Available with hood and blue eye colorimeter

PORTLAND, OR (Date) – LaCie today announced the latest addition to its line of professional displays, the LaCie 324i – featuring a 10-bit P-IPS LCD panel. An ideal monitor for prepress, illustration, web design, and photographic workflows, the LaCie 324i delivers uniform and accurate colors thanks to its wide gamuts and backlight stabilization.

Lifelike Clarity
The LaCie 324i P-IPS panel offers a realistic presentation without discoloration or inconvenient pattern distortions. Distinguished by its impressive gamut spectrum, the LaCie 324i color is rated at 102% NTSC and 98% Adobe RGB. With wide gamuts that are not disturbed by irregular patterns, digital artists can rely on true colors that maintain the integrity of their work.

“For years, LaCie has designed monitors for digital artists who demand color precision,” said Ahcene Tirane, LaCie Product Manager for Displays. “From concept to creation, LaCie developed the 324i with the highest level of color accuracy, and with a firm belief that when professionals have a tool that enhances their workflow, they can deliver their best work.”

Enhanced Workflow
Designed for versatility in any office or studio, the LaCie 324i 178° viewing angle provides the same visual experience and quality from numerous axes, without distorting the picture or losing color. Further, its anti-glare panel guarantees that you will not have to worry about unwanted reflections often found on glossy panels.

With 24 inches of usable workspace and a native 1920×1200 resolution, users can enjoy two projects at once, with room for toolbars and palettes. If Landscape is not the desired display mode, simply pivot the LaCie 324i 90° to Portrait mode. The multifunction stand glides effortlessly when raising, lowering, swiveling, tilting, or pivoting the display.

Additionally, the 324i comes with a 3-year Gold Protection Plan that includes a robust 3-year advance care warranty. If you experience a problem, LaCie will ship a replacement monitor immediately – so you never have to worry about downtime.

Absolute Accuracy
In addition to its 1000:1 contrast ratio and backlight stabilization – for the brightest whites and darkest blacks – the LaCie 324i can be further enhanced with the optional LaCie blue eye calibration tool. The included software also provides prepress professionals with the option to enhance soft proofing accuracy using test and report features approved by UGRA (the Swiss Center of Competence for Media and Printing Technology).

Enhanced Connectivity
The LaCie 324i has four display and video inputs, making it compatible with most computers and video devices. Use DisplayPort or DVI-D for connecting the monitor to a computer and HDMI or component for video sources. The 324i also has three USB 2.0 ports for a convenient USB hub to your computer. All cables are neatly arranged in the 324i’s handy cable manager.

Availability
The LaCie 324i P-IPS LCD Monitor is available from the LaCie Store Online or through LaCie Color Partner and LaCie Reseller+, starting at the suggested retail price of $1,249.99. For more information, visit www.lacie.com.

For top-priced cameras, Leica goes hand-in-hand. The company is known for making cameras that have plenty of features and aesthetic eye-caching goodness, and the price tag generally follows suit. But with the unveiling of the M9 Titanium Limited Edition, the company has out-done themselves. Created by a team that incorporated members of Leica and Volkswagen, the Titanium limited edition camera is something to just stare at, if not actually use.

The Titanium limited edition is, at its most basic level, a far more equipped M9, but that’s not stopping Leica from releasing it. For instance, the trim features leather that is usually used in Audi’s premium automobiles. Other additions to the camera include fingerprint resistant overlays, the handstrap will come in two sizes, and the frame lines will be illuminated by LEDs. And you get a fancy new holster, too, which was designed specifically for this new edition.

If you were to buy one of these limited edition cameras, you’d get the camera, 35mm Summilux F/1.4 prime lens, that new holster, and a lens hood in the box. There’s a new electronic illumination system in place, too. Unfortunately, Leica only made 500 of these, and by now there’s probably already a handful that’s been bought up. As for the pricing, that’s said to be marked at 22,000 EUR. Yes, 22,000 EUR. It will be made available some time in November,

Olympus are teasing a new camera of their own today, in the shape of a new prototype that uses an integrated Zuiko lens. Expected to make its commercial debut in Q1 2011, the so-far unnamed compact camera doesn’t use a removable lens system like Olympus’ Micro Four Thirds models, but does get the same accessory port.

That means it’ll work with peripherals like Olympus’ SEMA-1 external microphone, just not any of the interchangeable lenses that fit the PEN range. Unfortunately beyond that – and some hyperbole about it being the company’s new flagship – details are in short supply.

Looking at the back panel, the red button would suggest that video capture is supported, and we can also see a flash control and optical zoom lever. The camera will be shown off at Photokina 2010 this week, so we expect we’ll hear feedback from there and hopefully a few more specifications as well.

Nothing too dramatic, then, but Casio aren’t asking too much for the EXILIM Z-16. It’ll drop later this month for $99.99.

Casio has unveiled its latest point-and-shoot, the EXILIM EX-H20G, and to try and help it stand out of the Photokina 2010 crowds it’s fitted it with a clever Hybrid GPS system. As well as taking 14.1-megapixel photos, recording 720p HD video and having a 10x optical zoom, the EX-H20G can apparently pinpoint its position for geotagging whether you’re outdoors or inside, by extrapolating the last known GPS position.

To do that it has all manner of accelerometers and motion sensors, which work from the most recent GPS fix and estimate your current indoor position. When you step back outside and get a new GPS fix, it’s all updated again. Nifty power management means you’ll have enough battery life for more than one or two shots, the company claims, and there’s a preloaded database of over 140 cities (and even 10,000 preloaded shots of sightseeing landmarks) stored on the H20G itself.

Otherwise it’s pretty much as you’d expect from a modern compact: various auto modes, a 3-inch LCD preview display and a panorama mode for 360-degree shots. The Casio EXILIM EX-H20G will drop in November, priced at $349.99.

Press Release:

CASIO RELEASES COMPACT EXILIM® CAMERA WITH HYBRID GPS

World’s First Camera Combining GPS with Motion-Sensor Driven Autonomic Positioning

DOVER, NJ, September 20, 2010 — Casio America, Inc. and its parent company, Casio Computer Co., Ltd., today unveiled the world’s first Hybrid GPS enabled digital camera, the EXILIM® EX-H20G. The latest model to join Casio’s EXILIM Hi-Zoom lineup, the EX-H20G offers an impressive feature set as well as Casio’s state-of-the-art Hybrid GPS technology, which makes the camera perfect for traveling. Thanks to Casio’s Hybrid GPS system, the EX-H20G offers ultra-precise location data for the geotagging of photos and videos and is also the first camera able to geotag indoors. Additionally, the EX-H20G can display the user’s current location – as well as geotagged photos and videos – on a map which can be viewed right on the camera itself.

“Geotagging has increased in popularity, especially with the advent of photo-sharing Web sites and as consumers look to do more with their images,” said Toshi Iguchi, Senior General Manager, Digital Imaging Division, Casio America Inc. “With the new Exilim EX-H20G, Casio is taking the geotagging experience to a new level by incorporating exciting technologies which consumers can now leverage to make the process fun, easy and completely seamless. No matter where in the world you take an image, whether it is indoors or out, the EX-H20G will know exactly where it was taken.”

The EX-H20G’s Hybrid GPS system sets a new standard for geotagging and offers exciting new ways to use a digital camera. Casio’s Hybrid GPS system combines GPS with autonomic positioning, which is made possible by an internal motion sensor. This enables the EX-H20G to track a user’s last known satellite-acquired position against map data stored in the camera’s internal memory, even while the user is indoors. In addition to these features, the camera is pre loaded with information regarding 10,000 sightseeing photo spots around the globe. When in the vicinity of one of these photo spots, the EX-H20G will automatically alert the user, identifying the locations as points-of-interest.

The industry-leading GPS and geotagging capabilities of the EX-H20G will dramatically change how people use their digital camera when traveling. The EX-H20G’s on-screen map allows users to plan their travels before departing as they can view destinations, points-of-interest and photo locations. While on-the-go, users can then confirm their present location and utilize the EX H20G’s digital compass to determine the best route to their next destination. After returning home, users can manage and share their geotagged photos and videos captured with the EX H20G using popular photo-sharing Web sites and software which offer geotagging functionality, such as Picasa, Panoramio, Google Earth, Flickr and iPhoto. These platforms will utilize the precise location data embedded into each image’s EXIF file to plot exactly where they were captured on a world map, giving the photographer, as well as their friends and family, the ability to vividly imagine their travels by making the connection with the locations visited and images. By integrating camera and map as well as location data and photos, the EX-H20G creates a whole new way to enjoy traveling.

Equipped with the new EXILIM Engine HS, the EX-H20G features all of the essential capabilities expected from a camera. When used with Casio’s Single Frame SR Zoom function, the 24mm wide-angle, 10x optical zoom lens actually offers a 15x zoom range that maintains the image quality needed for 14.1-megapixel high-resolution photography. This represents 1.5 times the range of the optical zoom, with virtually no loss in quality. Other features include 720p HD video recording (30fps), as well as a three-inch, high-resolution 460K super clear LCD that is easy to view even when outdoors. The EX-H20G also comes with Casio’s advanced, fully automatic Premium Auto function for taking beautiful shots of scenery and people with just a press of the shutter button, and various useful functions for traveling such as Panorama Photo mode, which can take 360-degree photos, as well as auto-time adjustment which will automatically synchronize the camera’s date and time with that of the user’s current location and time zone.

Starting with the EX-H20G, Casio is positioning the EXILIM brand as “Amazing Gear” — a brand that never fails to deliver new surprises and excitement. Casio intends to revolutionize photography, creating new value by developing digital cameras that go beyond the limits of cameras in the past.

EXILIM Hi-Zoom EX-H20G
A Traveler’s Camera Equipped with a Hybrid GPS System

The first digital camera with autonomic indoor positioning through Hybrid GPS
The EX-H20G is equipped with a Hybrid GPS system that combines a GPS engine with autonomic positioning made possible by a motion sensor. Even if no signals are received from GPS satellites when indoors, the system consecutively tracks the user’s location by employing an original algorithm using a three-way accelerometer and a three-way direction sensor. When the user goes back outside, the system automatically updates the positional information of the indoor location based on the exact location determined by GPS reception. Even when the camera is powered off, the GPS system continues to search for satellite signals at 10 minute intervals. This is an ideal system for a digital camera, allowing it to immediately track location data at any time and any place.

Highly accurate and speedy position tracking with low power consumption
The EX-H20G employs Casio’s advanced low-power technology, which ensures that the camera consumes only a small amount of power. Power consumption is suited for the various situations in which the EX-H20G will be used, including power on and power-off, satellite acquisition and even while the three-way accelerometer and direction sensor are working in the background while the camera is off. With the EX-H20G, users can rest assured knowing that they won’t need to sacrifice battery life to enjoy highly precise and speedy position tracking.

Complete with a wide range of functions useful for traveling
•	Contains world atlas data including detailed maps of 140 world cities and 12 cities in Japan
•	User’s location and photos and movies taken are displayed on a map
•	Photos are saved with the location information, including longitude and latitude, shooting direction, and place names
•	About 10,000 photos of popular sightseeing spots around the world are included in the internal memory
•	Users can leverage the camera’s digital compass and map to determine the most appropriate route
•	A location name database with approximately one million items is included , enabling the camera to display the name of the shooting location on the screen
•	Location name and other data can be embedded in the photo when taken
•	H.264 video format grants longer recording time for 720p HD Movies
•	Travel memories can be reproduced vividly on a large-screen TV in a slideshow with a map using an HDMI terminal

Premium Auto function produces beautiful photos with just a press of the shutter button
Premium Auto enables the camera to automatically analyze the scene being photographed — including distinguishing night scenes, back lighting, a blue sky, green trees or a sunset — as well as sensing whether there is a face in the frame, the movement and position of the subject, and whether a tripod is being used. It simultaneously optimizes settings for exposure, ISO, sensitivity, focus location, photo blur correction, tonal range and color balance, and level of noise reduction. Images are analyzed pixel by pixel to apply different correction to people and backgrounds. Premium Auto delivers an advanced level of full auto photography, ensuring high quality photos with just a press of the shutter button. Landscape Makeup processing, which creates clearer landscape photographs, operates automatically.

Equipped with newly developed EXILIM Engine HS
The newly developed EXILIM Engine HS for advanced image processing boasts a multi-CPU and two parallel image processors, enabling the EX-H20G to accurately capture the genuine character of photo subjects with high-speed.

Powerful zoom that maintains high-resolution image quality through 15x
The EX-H20G is outfitted with a 24mm ultra wide-angle, 10x optical zoom lens which offers a 35mm film equivalent focal length of 24mm-240mm. To enhance the zoom range even further, Casio incorporated its Single Frame SR Zoom in the EX-H20G, which extends the camera’s 35mm film equivalent telephoto focal length to 360mm, for 1.5 times the optical zoom or a total zoom range of 15x. Furthermore, the EX-H20G features built-in CCD-shift image stabilization to help reduce photo blur from hand movement. These features allow users to photograph any kind of scene, from enormous structures in sightseeing areas to scenic views at a distance.

Dynamic Photo function for creating composite moving images
These EX-H20G also features Casio’s Dynamic Photo function, which makes it easy for users to create “moving photos” right on the camera by cutting moving subjects from the background in images taken with continuous shooting, and combining those images on a different still or moving image background. With Dynamic Photo, it is possible to make multiple characters move independently of each other against a background of moving images up to as long as 20 seconds. These capabilities encourage users to explore their creativity and make it more fun to create images. Sharing is also simplified as included software makes it easy to upload images to YouTube™ or post them to a blog.

The EX-H20G will be available November 2010 for $349.99.

Fujifilm envisage the X100 slotting in-between regular compacts and DSLRs, and so the Hybrid Viewfinder borrows the best of both. It can work in both optical and electronic modes, as well as overlaying digital information – such as shutter speed and other settings – over a purely optical view, meaning you may not ever need to turn on the 2.8-inch LCD.

There’s also the company’s latest EXR Processor, real leather cladding and an ISO range of 200 to 6400, along with 5fps burst shooting and an SD/SDXC card slot. More specs in this PDF. Unfortunately, while the FinePix X100 will be making its debut this week, it won’t actually be hitting shelves until early 2011. No word on how much it’ll cost, either, which is usually an ominous sign.

Press Release:

FUJIFILM announces development of Digital Camera FinePix X100

September 20, 2010

PHOTOKINA 2010, COLOGNE, GERMANY, September 20, 2010 – FUJIFILM Corporation is pleased to announce the new FinePix X100, a high-grade digital compact camera featuring an APS-C CMOS sensor, a Fujinon 23mm fixed focal length lens and a newly developed Hybrid Viewfinder, due for commercial release in early 2011.
The FinePix X100 is aimed at the professional photographer or keen enthusiast looking for exceptional quality pictures from a compact camera. It is designed to appeal to the millions of DSLR users who need a slim back-up camera for high quality in-fill shots when the use of a bigger SLR system is either inconvenient or impractical. Or, of course, it can be used as a professional’s only top-end camera, if size and versatility are the primary considerations.
Fujifilm has closely studied the current line-up of professional cameras and feels that there is a strong need for a compact high-quality (APS-C based) camera as a counterpoint to an SLR. Using the experience of working with generations of photographers using famous emulsions like Velvia, Provia, Astia etc., Fujifilm engineers distilled this knowledge into months of careful study to create the perfect compact-sized professional camera.
The priority for this model is picture quality, so it was decided to make the highest quality possible lens and sensor combination, built from the ground-up. The lens chosen is a fixed, prime F2 lens, made by Fujinon, manufactured to perfectly match the APS-C custom sensor. Added to this is the newly-developed EXR Processor, which combines all the latest image processing technology Fujifilm has technology built up over the years.
Other cameras on the market look to fill the need for the ultimate ‘compact’ professional camera, but the Fujifilm development team believe that, having listened to the marketplace, the FinePix X100 offers a number of technical developments that will set this camera apart from other contenders. The main technologies employed in this camera are as follows:
Hybrid Viewfinder (New Development)

The Hybrid Viewfinder on the FinePix X100 combines the window-type “bright frame” optical viewfinder found in high-end film cameras such as 35mm or medium-format cameras, and the electronic viewfinder system incorporated in fixed single lens or mirrorless digital cameras. By using integrating a prism for the 1,440,000 dot LCD panel image on the viewing screen in the reverse-Galilean optical finder, the Hybrid Viewfinder can show both the shooting frame and a variety of shooting data. Of course, it can also be used as a high-quality electronic viewfinder to compose or playback shots. With this ability to instantly switch between optical and electronic viewfinder images with simple “one touch” control. The new Hybrid Viewfinder offers users expanded freedom in the composition and enjoyment of photography in a range of challenging shooting conditions.
While digital compact cameras have become ever slimmer and more compact in recent years, composing and viewing shots on large, higher resolution LCD panels on the back of the camera has become the mainstream practice for today’s users. On the other hand, shooting with an optical viewfinder is the standard practice for conventional film cameras and the preferred method for large numbers of digital camera owners. Many prefer the finder to be as close as possible to the eye so the user can focus attention exclusively on photo composition to get a clear view of the subject without distraction.
While traditionalists prefer the clear, sharp view of an ‘optical’ finder, modern electronic displays, giving data like shutter speed, aperture, white balance, exposure correction and sensitivity can aid the photographer tremendously. The new Hybrid Viewfinder on the FinePix X100 aims to give the user the ‘best of both worlds’.

Conceptual diagram
Further specifications for the Hybrid Viewfinder are as follows:
The reverse Galilean optical finder with a 0.5x magnification features all-glass elements made from high-refractive index glass and demonstrates low chromatic aberration and distortion.
In optical viewfinder mode, the brightness of both the “bright frame” and text data is automatically adjusted according to the brightness of scene area, ensuring that shooting information is always easily and clearly viewable.
Displayed shooting data is constantly updated according to changes in shutter speed, exposure, sensitivity and other settings.
In electronic viewfinder mode, the photographer can preview the picture or playback the result with the “through the sensor” image review. Available with one-touch switching ease, this capability enables the user to preview and confirm exposure settings, depth-of-field effects, white balance, and macro shots.
12.3 Megapixel APS-C CMOS Sensor

The FinePix X100 features a custom CMOS high-performance sensor, internally optimized and developed exclusively for this model.
Optimization of the angle-of-incidence in conjunction with the specially developed lens maximizes light gathering efficiency extending to the perimeter of the sensor for a sharper image with exceptional clarity.

When shooting HD movies, the combination of the large-sized sensor and the large aperture F2 lens, lets users shoot a soft out-of-focus touch (bokeh) – a capability not available in conventional compact cameras.
The ideal combination of a fixed focal length lens, high-sensitivity sensor (approx. 10 times the sensitivity of a conventional compact*1) and a high-performance image processor captures exceptionally high-quality images over the entire sensitivity range from low to high ISO settings.
The high-speed CMOS sensor read-out and the EXR Processor’s enhanced focusing system contributes to the high-speed AF performance, while the combination of the optical viewfinder and extremely low shutter time lag enhance the pleasure of every shot.
*1 Comparison with other FinePix compact camera models.
23mm F2 Fujinon (Aspherical) Lens

The newly-developed lens offers a focal length of 23mm (135 equivalent: 35mm) and a widest aperture of F2. Made from molded glass, the lens contains 8 elements in 6 groups.
The adoption of the non-collapsible lens structure with minimized lens length not only contributes to the compact size but also eliminates telescoping of the lens when the power is on. It’s ready to start shooting the moment you turn it on.
Exploiting the merits of fixed focal length lens, this lens delivers sharp resolution of the total image from the center to the corners. In addition, the lens features not only the large F2 aperture value, but also an optical architecture that maintains a high degree of resolution even when closed by 1 to 2 stops.

FinePix X100 Lens Structure

MTF (Modulation Transfer Function) Curve
The lens uses a 9-blade aperture diaphragm. A large F2 aperture and high-quality optics let users take beautiful photos with a soft out-of-focus (bokeh) effect.
The lens enables macro shooting as close as 10 cm.
Featuring a built-in ND filter (equivalent f-stop reduction of 3), the lens can enhance depth-of-field even in bright shooting conditions by enabling the aperture to be kept wide open. Shutter speed can also be reduced to capture waterfalls, or any shot where intentional blur is required.
EXR Processor (Newly Developed)

When combined with the high-performance lens and high-sensitivity sensor, the newly developed EXR Processor achieves the highest definition, sensitivity and wide dynamic range image quality of any digital camera produced by Fujifilm.
Throughout development of the processor, Fujifilm has re-examined every aspect from response to the circuit structure, and achieved a significant leap in signal processing performance for a more responsive and faithful reproduction of the image.
The graphical interface (style and rendering of the LCD information) has been upgraded in the newly developed LSI to enhance the user experience and to improve the clarity of the information presented.
Design

Inspired by the beauty and form of classic cameras from the past, the FinePix X100 combines all the latest technical digital innovations in a beautiful, traditional chassis which oozes class and prestige.
The ergonomics of the design offer the perfect balance between compact convenience and user-friendly operation.
The camera controls have been carefully thought out to give the photographer simple and speedy access to aperture, shutter speed, ISO etc, to allow maximum creative expression with minimum hassle. Custom modes can also be used for a one-touch change in settings.
The upper control deck/bottom surface has been cast from magnesium alloy (semi-solid metal casting) to contribute to a high-precision camera body with high rigidity.
All dials on the upper control deck are fabricated from metal. Adoption of traditional ’manual‘ dials lets the user confirm the position of the settings without turning on the power.
Premium quality is evident in every detail. The chassis has been finished with high-quality leather accents and is a delight to use and a pleasure to hold.

Having been spotted in leaky press shot form yesterday, Samsung’s upcoming NX100 digital camera has now emerged in some in-the-wild pictures. Engadget‘s tipster sent them some feedback on the Micro Four Thirds shooter, suggesting that video performance is strong and tweaking settings is as straightforward as on a DSLR.

Unfortunately, the still image quality doesn’t live up to the DSLR the camera apes, though that’s probably not going to stop potential buyers who don’t want the extra bulk of a “proper” camera. In contrast, the NX100 is expected to measure in at 4.74 x 2.8 x 1.36 inches and weigh a mere 9.95 oz, though you don’t get an integrated viewfinder and instead have to make do with the 921k resolution AMOLED.

Samsung are expected to offer an external, 201k resolution EVF for those suitably desperate, together with an external GPS attachment for geotagging shots. The NX100′s official unveil is expected to take place at Photokina later this month.

Samsung’s newest edition to their micro-four-thirds line-up, the NX100, is still unannounced (but previously teased, but that’s not stopping some folks from revealing the official press shots of the device ahead of any kind of announcement. No surprise here, though, right? It’s almost impossible to keep a secret ahead of an official announcement, after all. And while the photos are indeed drool-worthy, there’s still plenty of information missing about the upcoming camera.

The NX100 will be Samsung’s smallest mirrorless interchangeable camera, but it will be wide enough for you to notice in your grip. The press shots came courtesy of a forum poster over at DPReview, and they point out that the lens features just 2.5X zoom. As for the other features, there’s still a lot of speculation — especially considering Samsung hasn’t officially announced the camera yet.

Some believe that, much like the NX10 (also by Samsung), the NX100 will feature a 14.6MP APS-C sensor. And there won’t be a built-in flash, as Samsung will apparently rely on a hot shoe to have you add it later, if you see fit. As for anything else important, like pricing and availability, that will have to wait until Photokina, where Samsung is believed to make the official announcement. So, stay tuned.

It’s not just the Galaxy Tab that Samsung are teasing us about for next week; the company’s photography division has been sending out invites to a Photokina 2010 event where they’ll be demonstrating their next-generation NX digital camera. According to the invite, “the NX evolution” will be “Samsung’s latest and most hotly anticipated camera”; they don’t spare the hyperbole, either, claiming the new model will “change the lives of creative consumers around the world, and take the camera industry by storm.”

The best guess so far is that Samsung are making the rumored NX100 official, their newest Micro Four Thirds model which was spotted in a promotional video earlier this month. Actual specifications for the NX100 are unknown, though the compact snapper was pictured next to various unannounced lenses which would presumably debut with it.

Details of the D90′s replacement are scant at present, though previous rumors pegged the upcoming DSLR as potentially supporting 39 autofocus points and having a 16-megapixel sensor. It would also get 6400 ISO support and HI2, the ability to record 1080p 24fps HD video and compatibility with a new, optional MD-B11 grip. Photokina 2010 kicks off in September this year.

Apparently the marketing team at Agfaphoto didn’t get the memo that analog segment in photo camera has long lost it battle to digital cameras. They are still showing not one, but two snapshot film cameras at Photokina. Now that doesn’t make much sense to me; new comer looks to learn back-to-basic photography would probably force to pick up a film camera due to academic reason. (Yes, photographer-wannabe has to start from scratch) There are plenty of prosumer and pro-level film cameras widely available in used market and they are dirt cheap; you can find them almost everywhere from ebay to local mom and pop stores. Why would one buy a new point and shoot film camera at this point?

Chasseur d’images is one of French’s most-read photography magazines, they probably have got to look at and even field-test the camera. They did mention and state the information as rumors that have been circulating the web recently (so they don’t break NDA?). It’s in French, so the babefish translation is slightly challenging. Here is a few points of interest.

EOS 5D replacement will be announced on September 17, 8am.

It is a full frame, like its predecessor, but with 21 megapixel Digic IV processor.

New design with magnesium alloy body

New features live view and video mode.

More ergonomic design and a new battery

Cost 2600 Euro ~$3,600

Canon EOS 5D-II : only a few days left !

Canon keeps a total silence on its next reflex camera, placed under a very firm embargo. But, in same time, Canon excites curiosity with a “teasing” which presents the silhouette of its next baby, in order to maintain the buzz. Canon us will thus not want of it if we enter his play and revealing before the standard time (!) broad outlines of the next EOS-5.

The date of official presentation of this apparatus is known: Wednesday September 17 at 8 o’clock in the morning. At this time precise, you will see appearing the indentity card of the case which will replace the current EOS-5.

Although secret, its characteristics are known. Here the synthesis of the rumours (hum…) who circulate:

- this new EOS will replace the 5D and will cost the same price appreciably: 2600 euros naked;
- it receives a sensor 24×36, like its predecessor, but exceeds the bar of the 21 million pixels;
- it profits from a new drawing, renovated and of a beautiful completion combining robustness and lightness, thanks to a magnesium alloy frame;
- it concentrates all the “new ideas” recently appeared at its competitors: direct aiming of type Live View, but also, known as the rumour, a video mode.

For the remainder (gives rhythm driving, dust protection…), it is wise to await the official presentation to go into the details. New more ergonomic drawing, improved battery, fast processor Digic IV… Canon obviously will not deprive the new EOS 5 of its last projections.
