Facebook Photo Filters Coming Soon

Facebook Photo Filters Coming Soon

If there's one thing that Zuckerberg hates, it's Instagram. Actually I'm pretty sure he's not the least vengeful fellow in the bunch, but at the moment it appears that one of the groups Facebook is about to take on is, indeed, the photo filtering group itself. If you're a frequenter of Facebook, and if you're reading this article I must assume that you are, you know that one of the most popular activities on the social networking site is sharing photos. Over the past couple of years since the mobile smartphone device really started to pick up, these photos have become more and more prevalent as well as more and more skillfully shot - this depends entirely on who your friends are, of course. One thing that I, the people I know, and I'm sure you have noticed is the upturn of photos with odd filters having been put over them. Facebook sees this trend and knows.

Gross photo of deceased pet is made from pets own ashes

Gross photo of deceased pet is made from pets own ashes

This may be the most disturbing and gross photo I have ever seen. I can understand that some people love their pets so much that they have photos of them and treat them like kids. I get that pets mean a lot to some people. I can also understand people wanting to bury their pet in a cemetery and all that stuff. Cremating a pet is a bit off though and when you then take those ashes and use them to print a photo of your dead animal that's just plain weird.

Google’s Photovine iOS App Launches [Hands-On]

Google has officially launched its photo-sharing iPhone app called Photovine, which they first revealed back in July. The app lets you share images based on themes or in this case, "Vines." It aims to integrate more social elements to encourage photo sharing and create "a fun way to learn more about your friends, meet new people, and share your world like never before." So, how is it different, better, or worse than other photo-sharing apps? Well, let's take a closer look.

Rice University details Theia distributed image search solution

Rice University details Theia distributed image search solution

The thought of a system that could search the photos taken by a bunch of strangers on the smartphone looking for one specific person seems scary and creepy at first. However, there is a lot of good that can be done with something like this as well. Think for instance about all the people you see shooting photos with smartphones at a theme park. Consider if a child goes missing and all of the photos being taken there might show what happened to the child to help parents or police locate the missing little one.

LA-EA2 Sony Lens Adapter Leaks with Mirror and Speed-Boosting AF Sensor

LA-EA2 Sony Lens Adapter Leaks with Mirror and Speed-Boosting AF Sensor

What you're seeing here in this rather confusing set of images is a leaked product from Sony, a brand new lens adapter with a brand new twist - a mirror! This is the LA-EA2, a lens adapter that allows you to put Sony's Alpha SLR lenses onto all of its smaller NEX cameras. While this sort of situation generally just has a few jimmyrigged bits making the lens not quite as awesome fitted onto the camera that's not normally meant to have the lens, this new piece of equipment has a translucent mirror inside to collect a tiny bit of light from the image as it travels into the camera, this light then sent to a phase-detection autofocus sensor in the base.

Photovine is Live, Time for some Futuristic Google Photo Sharing

What on earth is Google thinking? Don't they already have a photo sharing service called Google+? Or better yet, Picasa? Then there's that other service by the name of Pool Party. Isn't that something that Google has whipped up as well? Turns out all these things are sort of true in one way or another, Google has its hands deep into more than one photo-sharing or otherwise social networking with photos site, Photovine only being the most recently uncovered.

Exploding water balloons make awesome pictures

Exploding water balloons make awesome pictures

It's already reaching summer-like temperatures here in Texas with temps of 91 degrees not counting humidity here over the weekend. That means that driving through my neighborhood, I enviably see kids playing in a water hose, using water guns, or tossing water balloons at each other. I was constantly picking up water balloon shards last year out of my yard with the kids all playing with them constantly. An artist has taken some water balloons and used them to create some really cool photos.
