Microsoft's plans to integrate Windows Phone 7 devices with Xbox 360 consoles via their Xbox Live service have been well discussed, and the company has already confirmed that the smartphones will be able to play Xbox Live arcade games. Now, according to Microsoft Canada Mobility Solutions Manager Greg Milligan, we know phone-to-console wireless gaming is also on the cards; he told RGBFilter that the functionality would arrive in the "near future".

HTC T8788 Breaks Cover, Sporting Windows Phone 7 and Heading to AT&T
We already knew that AT&T was going to be the premiere partner for Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 launch later this year, but this is almost getting ridiculous. Coming off a wave of devices last week, now we're getting to see what else HTC is working on. The model number is T8788, and it's a landscape slider that holds a little surprise under that expansive display. There's no word on what the device will be called when it hits the market in the near future, though.

AT&T Dell Aero Android smartphone on sale today [Update: 1.5 Cupcake confirmed]
Dell's first Android smartphone to reach the US, the Dell Aero, has just hit the virtual shelves. Priced at $99.99 with a new, two-year AT&T agreement, the Dell Aero has a 3.5-inch 640 x 360 touchscreen, 5-megapixel camera, triband UMTS/HSPA, WiFi and Bluetooth, and is based on a 624MHz Marvell CPU.

LG C900 WP7 phone gets September 28th launch tip from Bluetooth SIG
The AT&T branded LG C900 Window Phone 7 handset looks to have acquired a tentative release date, with the Bluetooth SIG listing the QWERTY slider as due for launch on September 28th. In fact, three versions of the C900 are suggested: the C900N, C900k and C900B, presumably catering to the various UMTS/HSPA bands in the Asia, Australia, Europe, North America and South America regions the Bluetooth SIG says the LG handset will eventually arrive in.

HTC exec “100% convinced” in Windows Phone 7, scorns Nokia for not ditching Symbian
HTC are generally pretty upbeat and uncontroversial about their rivals, but obviously their Australia/New Zealand sales & marketing director, Anthony Petts, didn't get that particular memo. He's been talking up Windows Phone 7 with Smarthouse, and as well as insisting that he's "100-percent convinced that the new Windows Mobile will be highly successful," he also saved a few barbs for poor old Nokia. "Symbian is an old operating system" Petts says, "and it's proving much harder for Nokia to re position the brand in the current market."

The BlackBerry Curve 3G (aka the Curve 9300) has arrived on Vodafone UK, two weeks after RIM made the QWERTY smartphone official. Priced from free with a new agreement (of £25+ per month), the Curve 3G has a 2.8-inch QVGA display, triband UMTS/HSPA and GPS, along with WiFi b/g/n and Bluetooth 2.1.

Nokia and Intel open Joint Innovation Center: 3D UIs and mobile holograms ahoy!
We already knew Nokia and Intel were deeply in love, thanks to their collaboration on MeeGo, but now the pairing has decided to hook up with the University of Oulu in Finland and open a joint research center. Part of the Intel Labs Europe scheme, the new Joint Innovation Center will focus on "new and compelling mobile user experiences," taking advantage of mobile device processing grunt to offer 3D graphics and even holograms.

iPhone 3G iOS 4 fix “coming soon” says purported Jobs email
We've learnt to be pretty skeptical about emails purported to be from Steve Jobs, but the prospect of an imminent fix for iPhone 3G owners with slow, glitchy and downright frustrating handsets after updating to iOS 4 is too good to be true. Having heard that Apple were investigating the reports, a Mac Rumors reader emailed the CEO to ask if an official downgrade option was really in the works; according to Jobs' reply, there's a "software update coming soon."

Unlocking a cellphone can be a headache, so we're pleased to see Samsung has done its users a service with the Galaxy S - and the US versions, the AT&T Captivate and T-Mobile Vibrant, based on the phone - by including the unlock codes in a file on the smartphone itself. Unfortunately they've not made them easy to access, and so the team over at xda-developers has stepped in with a simple tool that takes a locked Galaxy S family handset and spits out an unlocked version.
