Maingear have announced a new PC that can’t decide quite whether it’s for gamers or HTPC enthusiasts. The Maingear Axess HD Gamer has its sights on your living room, and uses a low-profile aluminum case; however inside there’s an Intel Core i7 processor, up to 12GB of DDR3 memory and dual NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT graphics cards in SLI configuration. The Axess HD Gamer is also the first system to come with the Phantom Lapboard.
First of all, let me state the first thing that popped into my head when I saw this, “Even Tiger Electronics made it to store shelves.” That is just about all I have to say about this whole thing.
I mean really, how crappy does your product have to be, that the best place you can put it is in a hotel room? The lapboard actually looks kind of cool and useful, maybe even marketable. Granted its not the game system they promised oh so long ago, but they have that releasing too.
The Lapboard, a new wireless keyboard from Phantom, fits perfectly in your lap if you prefer to sit back on your couch to type. It can turn 360 degrees to accommodate left-handed or right-handed users. It also inclines up to a 22 degree angle with a hard surface below for your mouse. Works with both PCs and Macs. Will retail for around $129.95.
