sprint palm preThe SlashGear team have been surprisingly mobile this week, with part one of our Lincoln MKS road-test, and toting Sprint’s version of the MiFi 2200 portable EVDO hotspot around.  We still found enough time to get frantically excited about the Palm Pre, though, which we now know will launch on June 6th for $199.99.

That excitement is tempered with the ongoing rumors that stocks may be severely curtailed on launch day.  Not only have Best Buy and RadioShack insiders been talking of minimal handset numbers come June 6th, Sprint’s own CEO is warning that the Pre will likely be in short supply for the first couple of months.  The concern is that all of Palm’s momentum since CES back in January could fizzle out, as Apple are expected to announce a third-generation iPhone two days after the Pre’s launch.

As promised, Pentax have unleashed their latest DSLR, the 14.6-megapixel K-7.  Pairing the new CMOS with the PRIME II imaging engine, the K-7 is also the first of the company’s DSLRs to support high-definition video recording.  Where many rivals top out at 720p, the Pentax can climb all the way to 1,536 x 1,024 at 30fps (3:2 aspect; 16:9 720p is also supported), and has an HDMI output for easy viewing.

Photos and a specifications list for the Pentax K-7 have turned up at one enthusiast’s site, and while unconfirmed by Pentax themselves they do seem believable.  The leak follows an advert for the camera that showed up yesterday, seemingly scooping Pentax’s own teaser campaign.

According to the Pentax Forums, this is the new K-series DSLR that will be officially announced on May 20th.  If authentic, the image – which names the camera the Pentax K7D – suggests the DSLR has a 14.6-megapixel sensor, as with the Pentax K20D, but paired with the PRIME II imaging engine.

As busy weeks go, this one has certainly been something to write home about (or at least a Week in Review about), with CeBIT, PMA and an Apple mega-announcement all taking place. ASUS arguably stole the former show in Germany, with the Eee PC 1008HA “Shell” once again proving that netbooks needn’t be the ugly cousins to expensive ultraportable notebooks. For our full CeBIT 2009 coverage, hit the tag.
