Pebble Time gets Text Reply on iOS for AT&T postpaid

Getting notifications on your smartwatch, be it an Android Wear, Apple Watch, or Pebble, is one thing. Being able to act on those notifications is a different story. The latter is trickiest when it comes to text messages, given a smartwatch's small screen and extremely limited input methods. Most rely on voice recognition or canned replies to make it work. Now Pebble is joining that hip crowd with the latest update that brings a Text Reply feature to Pebble Time owners with iPhones and AT&T postpaid accounts.

Pebble Time hits Woot – bad news for the watchmaker?

Pebble Time hits Woot – bad news for the watchmaker?

It would appear that Woot just got a shipment of Pebble Time smartwatches in for their fire sale department. What's this mean for the watchmaker? It might mean little. It could be that one distributor or another just received more Pebble Time watches than they could sell. It could also mean that Pebble is planning on axing the rest of their stock of this particular watch in favor of the original (black and white model) and the more circular of the bunch.

Pagaré smartstrap gives Pebble Time wireless payment powers

Pagaré smartstrap gives Pebble Time wireless payment powers

Last March, Pebble revealed its smartstrap idea and platform that would allow developers and accessory makers to add functionality to the Pebble smartwatches indirectly through smartstraps. While the idea definitely has benefits, few have jumped on the opportunity to take Pebble beyond to new heights. That long wait might be over, at least to some extent. Fit Pay and ConnectedDevice, two companies heavily invested in the wearable market, are announcing Pagaré, a smartstrap that would usher the Pebble Time into the young but fast growing world of contactless payments.

Pebble Time metal bands up for pre-order, shipping 6-8 weeks

The first generation of smartwatches, both of the Android Wear kind and others, have mostly been a plastic and rubber affair, resembling sportswatches than classic time pieces. These days, however, a lot of emphasis is being put on form now that function has mostly been set in stone. From circular watch faces to premium materials, smartwatches are becoming fashion statements as they are geeky paraphernalia. And Pebble, one of the pioneers in that market, won't be left behind, especially now that its new metal bands are ready to ship.

Pebble Time Round hands-on: up close and circular

This week the Pebble Time Round has been revealed, and with it the promise of the "thinnest, lightest" smartwatch in the world. We had a chat with Pebble's founder Eric Migicovsky earlier this week about the watch - today we're taking another look at the device itself. In this hands-on look at the Pebble Time Round, we ask whether this a more elegant solution than previous Pebbles, or if it's just a round version of its predecessor.

Pebble rolls out Pebble Time firmware, app updates

Apple just revealed some new incoming treats for the Apple Watch, so today might not be the best time to put out smartwatch-related news. Version 3.4 of the firmware not only brings full support to three new language but also add some quiet time and a power-saving feature. Android Wear’s iOS victim isn’t Apple Watch, it’s Pebble

Android Wear has been updated to work with iOS, and while some suggest it's the Apple Watch that'll suffer, we're thinking Pebble. The smartwatch that took hold a couple years ago with its super-simple interface, physical buttons, and most important of all - iOS integration from the get-go. Being the only smartwatch in the world worth a second glance was great for Pebble when it launched. Now things are different. Now there's competition, and Pebble really, truly looks like it's behind the times.

Reservations for the Pebble Time Steel start now

Pebble definitely doesn't waste any time. Pun totally intended. It was barely two weeks ago when it put its color-toting Pebble Time up for grab by non-Kickstarter backers. Now, due to popular demand, and we'll just presume it is really popular, it is doing the same for the steel-clad Pebble Time Steel. With an important caveat. This isn't the start of retail availability of the new smartwatch just yet. Instead, Pebble is only taking reservations on its website, with a promise to start shipping sometime in September.
