Apple Patent Application Suggests Hover Sensing

Next step, Marty McFly and the Hoverboard! No, not actually, this is a patent application for what appears to be "Touch and hover sensing." What the what? That sounds pretty fancy. In the app, they speak of a sort of capacitive sensor array that not only responds to signals that are touching the surface, but hovering on either side of it - YES, both above and behind! They mention that the shield that would be behind (aka this would be the non-screen side of the iPad,) could be enhanced by an AC ground shield that would be attached to the back. Welcome to the latest edition of the SlashGear Week in Review! Apple rejected an app for inclusion on the App Store this week because it was a magazine app about Android. The publisher of the app said that the person at Apple he spoke with said, "You know… your magazine. It’s just about Android…. we can’t have that in our App Store." A report came in early in the week that Windows Phone 7 was outsold by Android devices 15:1 in the UK. The revelation came by way of an aggregator of store deals in the UK called MobilesPlease. Apple Looking at Carbon Fiber for the Next iPad

Based on a new patent application published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office this week, Apple has been playing around with the idea of using carbon fiber for a little extra strength protection for their mobile devices. Nintendo Seeks Patent to Use DS for Shopping Lists in Wireless Shopping Network

Nintendo's plans for the DS were grand. They didn't just want another mobile video game console, where only gamers were attracted to it. They wanted their device, and all of the subsequent hardware releases since then, to be carried around everywhere, no matter what the person was doing. This new patent that Nintendo is aiming for would help that case, by allowing users to build a shopping list that would connect to a wireless shopping network, and ultimately bring a new and interactive way for shoppers to find their goods. There are plenty of options out there fore keyboards. Especially for people who play PC games, or use their keyboard mainly for business. Interchangeable keys are a good options, even if it is still somewhat expensive for the extra keys.
