New Android OS version hinted by Pandora developers

Pandora Internet Radio's Android application has just been update this week with several fixes for bugs, user interface upgrades, and a hint that they know something we don't about the future of Android. In what's essentially a hint that we're sure thousands of users passed over without a thought, Pandora's developers may have accidentally spilled the beans. Promising "compatibility support for upcoming Android OS" the creators of Pandora may have let us know that Google is working with them to get prepared for their next generation in mobile operating system greatness.

Pandora boasts 52 million active users

Online music streaming company Pandora recently announced its financial results for Q1 fiscal 2013. The company generated total revenue of $80.8 million, which is a gain of 58% year-over-year. The bulk of that revenue came from advertising with $70.6 million generated there. The remainder came from subscriptions at $10.2 million generated.

iHeartRadio hits 10mm users faster than Spotify and Pandora

This week the folks at iHeartRadio have announced that they've reached 10 million registered users in just 8 months, that quicker than Facebook, Pandora, Spotify, Twitter, and Instagram. This explosive growth has the radio station application hitting 10 million only in registered users, unregistered users growing even quicker still. Clear Channel Media and Entertainment reports that 98 percent of their overall listening comes from the iHeartRadio app, the app also pulling in "more than 45 million monthly digital uniques" in the month of April.

Spotify readying direct rival to Pandora

Spotify is said to be developing an internet radio service that will rival the likes of Pandora. It would differ from the existing service, which holds a vast collection of music titles so users can create playlists, and function more like a customized radio station. Currently with Pandora, you plug in an artist or genre and the service will play similar music. You can skip tracks, but have no control over what specific music gets selected after your initial choice.

Roku adds dedicated Pandora button to remote [Update: Netflix & Crackle too!]

Roku is adding a dedicated Pandora button to the remote controls for its streaming media set-top boxes, allowing for one-touch access to the internet radio service. The  Roku 2 XD and Roku LT models will both get the new remote sometime this month, adding another option alongside the existing homescreen shortcut.
