Apparently not enough people liked iLike. The service that was once seen as a potential revolution to the online music industry has shut its doors and is now officially finished with its operations. The service was acquired by Myspace in 2009. Perhaps that was a sign that it wasn't exactly destined for greatness. Nevertheless, it came onto the scene as a powerful new player and now remains as an example of how dynamic this social online landscape is.

Roku adds dedicated Pandora button to remote [Update: Netflix & Crackle too!]

Roku is adding a dedicated Pandora button to the remote controls for its streaming media set-top boxes, allowing for one-touch access to the internet radio service. The  Roku 2 XD and Roku LT models will both get the new remote sometime this month, adding another option alongside the existing homescreen shortcut. Streaming music service Pandora is among a number of smartphone apps subpoenaed by federal prosecutors in New Jersey, over allegations that various apps have been illegally gathering or transmitting personal information without user permission. Plagued by costly music rights fees, online radio service Pandora looked beyond music in their multi million dollar IPO filing this week.  The online service, based on the Music Genome Project, hopes to expand to sports and talk shows to diversify traffic and build a succesful long term business for ad sales.  In addition, Pandora is looking to expand into the rapidly growing smart car niche, as well as other online devices beyond iPhone and Android smartphones.
