Panasonic’s latest range of web-enabled LCD TVs have finally launched in the US.  Announced back in January, the high-definition VIERA PZ850 is available in sizes ranging from 46 to 65-inches, and is compatible with Panasonic’s “VIERA CAST” multimedia content system.  That offers both YouTube videos and Google Picasa Web Album browsing on your big-screen TV, without requiring a media PC.

Panasonic’s latest Strada F-Class car navigation systems are yet another reason to lament not living in Japan.  The CN-HX1000D and CN-HW1000D borrow the VIERA label from the company’s premium LCD TVs, though scaled down to just 7-inches, and throw in a DVD player, GPS, hard-drive, iPod link, Bluetooth and a 1-Seg digital TV tuner.  Most impressive, though, is Panasonic’s “From Home to Car” system: that uses a Bluetooth cellphone to link up with a networked home.

Panasonic have announced a new home cinema system offering 1080p Blu-ray playback and digital surround sound. The SC-BT100 supports the latest Blu-ray Final Standard Profile, has an iPod dock, and comes with out-of-the-box 5.1 surround; that can be easily upgraded to 7.1 with the addition of two wireless side speakers. It also appears to have, going by this press photo at least, a magic center speaker that defies gravity.

Panasonic has taken their ToughBook line to the next level with this new hardened UMPC. Its weather proof and I presume, much like its larger predecessors, can take a hell of a beating.

I really have no clue why the designers thought this rack mounted system needed to look like a CRT television with a burnt in image of “Panasonic” smack dab in the middle. Regardless, we’ve slowly managed to move from the office, to the IDF, and now this would be something more likely found at the demarcation point.

Just because it was intended for use on IP based phone networks doesn’t mean Panasonic was naïve enough to leave out the old fashioned analog telephone service as an option as well. Furthermore, it looks fairly easy to use whether you are connecting via IP or POTS.
