Rare Fire Rainbow appears over Isle of Palms, SC

On Sunday, South Carolina became the canvas for a rare "fire rainbow", which is a rainbow that, in this case, twisted upward in the sky and formed what appeared to be a pair of wings. The phenomenon happened at Isle of Palms, and isn’t something you’re likely to see too often. It is rare enough, in fact, that many viewers were baffled by the sight, but a quick look at the tweets filling Twitter reveals they found it pleasant regardless.

Drifter speaker is buoyant, plays music sans smartphone

Drifter speaker is buoyant, plays music sans smartphone

Portable speakers come in many varieties, and if you have average needs you'll probably find a model that meets your requirements, or most of them. If one of your requirements is a speaker that can hold and play your music directly, though, finding an adequate option becomes harder. Add in ruggedness and buoyancy, and the options dwindle to almost nothing. Thusly enters the Drifter, an oddly shaped speaker that you can knock into the water without risk of ruin, and that plays your music without a smartphone.

Man flies through tiny mountain crevasse wearing wingsuit

This month GoPro published a video of what it says may have been the most technical and difficult BASE jump ever successfully pulled off. Using a bicycle to get around has its advantages: it takes up far less space than a car (and costs less), there's no monthly fuel charges or insurance premiums, and it burns a bunch of calories. The downside is that it can't be locked like a car, and so anything you leave on it while you're in the store is likely to be gone by the time you come back at...including the helmet. Stuffing the helmet into a backpack is one solution, but that is a hassle, especially if you're heading into a store that doesn't allow them, and soon the temptation to go without a helmet takes hold.
