New iMac and Mac Pro reportedly coming in 2013

Apple may have refreshed its line of MacBook Airs and MacBook pros, as well as introduce the next-gen MacBook Pro with a Retina display, but iMac and Mac Pro updates were noticeably absent. The Mac Pro did get a very sneaky update after the event, but it was a very minor refresh, mainly due to the fact that Intel stopped producing the chips that the models used. Mac Pro 2012 gets stealth refresh

Today amongst the major amount of updates to both hardware and software in the Apple world during the first large keynote of WWDC 2012, it appears that a stealth update has occured to the Mac Pro. This tower has been updated for 2012, well overdue since the last version came out all the way back in 2010. This tower Mac will be upgraded with two six-core 3.06GHz Intel Xeon X5675 processors along with a few lesser bumps as well.

Power Nap Apple app revealed at WWDC 2012

A brand new bit of software has been introduced this week at Apple's WWDC 2012 called Power Nap, an application that allows your computer to continue working while you're asleep. This software takes applications like notes, iPhoto, Calendar, and Mail, and "keeps your Mac up to date while it sleeps." MacBook Air 2012 refresh comes with Ivy Bridge and USB 3.0

This week at WWDC 2012 we’ve been informed by no less than Phil Schiller that the entire MacBook lineup would be updated, including the MacBook Air. The Air would grab 3rd-gen Intel Core Ivy Bridge processors in i5 configurations up to 1.8GHz dual-core, 8GB of ram, and 512GB of flash storage. In addition, these new notebooks will have USB 3.0 as well as a Thunderbolt port, Facetime camera with 720p resolution, and both 11-inch and 13-inch configurations, and all of it starting at $999.

Massive App Store expansion hits WWDC 2012

This week Tim Cook began at WWDC 2012 by speaking about how gigantic the iTunes App Store had become, ringing in the new season with no less than 400 million store accounts. This fact was blessed with a massive 650,000 apps on the App Store with a giant 225,000 of them made for the iPad specifically. Cook let the audience know that the 30 billionth download had been made recently from the App Store, this certainly giving the whole set of attendees a sense of confidence in the future of the ecosystem. The fabled Black Banner is back this morning at Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference 2012 as we ramp up to the main event with our own live feed and stream, it likely containing that one big reveal we've been waiting for! This event is sure to be the home of a brand new version of Apple's mobile operating system iOS 6, we've seen a banner showing off what appears to be a slightly new iteration of Apple's AirPlay, and of course there's the Black Banner (photographed by @SaschaSegan) which will almost certainly be revealed during or directly after the first keynote. MacBook Pro 2012 imminent as supply chain wears thin

Chinese manufacturing plants such as Foxconn have been reported to be having so much business this season from Apple that they must outsource themselves to keep up with demand for the MacBook Pro 2012 update. This version of the MacBook will be made with a brand new set of components when compared to the current model, with Apple tipped to be thinning the entire unit out and getting rid of its optical drive altogether. This update has been tipped this week as wearing Eastern China manufacturing plants specifically down to their last available labor, creating demand that must be met by upstream suppliers. Siri’s Voice Dictation spotted in OS X Mountain Lion code

The same Siri-based voice dictation features as on the new iPad look increasingly likely to show up in OS X Mountain Lion, Apple's next-gen Mac platform, according to new beta code tidbits. According to a new mention in the latest seed of Mountain Lion, spotted by 9 to 5 Mac, Apple could be using a new keypress combo to trigger what's presumably the same server-based dictation system as offered on the iPad. In a study done in Millward Brown's annual BrandZ study you'll find four of the top 5 most valuable brands to be tech-related with Apple sitting high atop that list. This study is done showing the brand value of the top companies in the world based on their financial data, market intelligence, and consumer measures of brand equity - all of this coming from Millward Brown. MacBook Pro 2012 model release tipped by price drop

Over at Best Buy this week you'll find that the new MacBook Pro 2012 model has been tipped by one of the more obvious events that always happens before a new Apple product: a price reduction int he current model. This blowout and replace tactic has been in place for several years now, all the way back to when iPods were given away for free to students when the newest model was on the way in the early 2000s - and beyond.
