Mac mini 2014 released at $599

This week details have sprung up on the next generation Mac mini, a device which brings the Apple OS X desktop world to monitors of all sizes. This device works with 4th-gen Intel Core processors, 802.11 ac Wi-Fi, and two Thunderbolt 2 ports. It looks rather similar to the Mac mini we know from the most recent generation - slim, small, simple, and gray. This device will sit alongside the newest iMac model with Retina display as the two desktop titans in Apple's range.

Apple Store down: new products incoming

Apple Store down: new products incoming

We’re in line at the Apple Event this morning in California and the Apple Store has gone down. This means that new Apple hardware is fast approaching, and that it’ll be available for order - or pre-order, at least - later today. This sort of down time has happened with essentially every major release of a product from Apple over the past several years, iPhone to iPad to MacBook Pro and back again. Today we’ll expect some iPad Air, some Mac, and some Yosemite for sure - though that last one will come from your App Store, not Apple’s online store.

Apple event predictions: 3D Apple, iPad Air, Mini, Yosemite

Several new bits and pieces are being tipped towards release this week as Apple’s next big event takes place tomorrow, the 16th of October. We’ll be there with bells on - and information releases as fast as you can read them. There we’ll see all manner of new devices, likely an iPad Air update, a new iPad Mini, and more than likely an official releasing of OS X Yosemite for desktop and notebook machines of all kinds - including a tipped new MacBook Air with Retina display - though that's just a less-than-respectable rumor.

New iTunes rolling out, looks just like OS X Yosemite

If you’re currently running iTunes 12 on your desktop, open it up right now. See anything different? It might be everything! Apple has started rolling a new-look iTunes out to those running iTunes 12, with an aesthetic change that mimics OS X and new functionality. Visually, iTunes is flatter, with the top carousel getting away from the “pop-out” look. Much like OS X Yosemite, the desktop iTunes looks to offer a bit more of a mobile look and feel.

iPad Event to be “live” with Apple

On the 16th of October, 2014, Apple will hold a special event for the reveal of their next hardware release. That’ll almost certainly be the next iPad or iPads as well as a new desktop system of some sort. That could mean a new MacBook Pro, a new Mac desktop, or any number of other systems that are set to showcase the newest version of OS X - Yosemite. The question remains though - will the event have a livestream video, or will they opt just for a live feed of images and text?

Apple App Store outage – you’re not alone

Yes, the App Store has been down and out for a bit this morning and you’re not the only one to experience this oddity. Starting in the evening of October 2nd, 2014, the App Store for both of Apple’s main platforms, iOS and OS X, were sporadically out to dinner - then breakfast.

Apple iPad/iMac event may happen October 16

Apple iPad/iMac event may happen October 16

Apple’s iPhone 6 and Apple Watch event was chock full of good stuff, but gave up nothing more than a few phones and a wearable. Adding more would have extended the conference beyond our level of comfort, so Apple decided to host a second event later on. Originally believed to be toward the end of this month, it seems the iPad event we’ve been anticipated has been bumped up.
