Orange UK iPhone 3GS landing November 10th

Orange UK will begin selling the iPhone 3GS from November 10th, according to the Guardian, the day after rival carrier O2's exclusivity agreement with Apple expires.  The launch will see two UK networks offering the smartphone in the run up to the holiday period, and while you might be tempted to think that anybody who wants an iPhone probably already has one, Orange have apparently had 200,000 people register their interest in the handset already. Motorola DEXT hits Orange UK from October 7th

Motorola have confirmed that their first Android smartphone, the Motorola DEXT, will arrive in the UK come Wednesday October 7th.  Stealing a leap on its US cousin, the Motorola CLIQ, the DEXT will be available exclusively to carrier Orange, and be priced at free to anybody willing to sign two years of their life away to a £34.26 ($55) per month contract. Vodafone UK next to get iPhone 3GS [Updated]

After Orange's announcement yesterday that they would be offering the iPhone 3GS in the UK, now comes word that Vodafone will be the third carrier in the country to sell Apple's smartphone.  According to UK paper The Telegraph, the Vodafone iPhone 3GS is likely to be £100 cheaper ($159) after analysts predict a price war between carriers. UK would-be iPhone users desperate to avoid O2's network can take heart in the fact that rival network Orange have just announced they will be offering the iPhone 3GS later this year.  The Orange iPhone 3GS is yet to be priced, and nor have the company revealed the exact date it will go on sale, but there is a pre-interest page open for registrations. HTC Hero gets Orange UK firmware update; just T-Mo to go

The ROM update for the Orange version of the HTC Hero has been released, and is now available to download from HTC's UK support site.  Promising an increase in system speed, together with the addition of touch-to-focus in the Hero's camera, the new software has also been tested by Orange to ensure it's compatibility with their network. ITG xpPhone preorder promises AT&T, Vodafone or Orange 3G

ITG have launched a preorder page for their distinctive xpPhone, promising support for "the global three major 3G standards" from its integrated 3G chip.  Still unpriced, the xpPhone has a 4.8-inch 800 x 480 touchscreen, AMD processor, WiFi b/g and Bluetooth, together with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard.  Unlike most smartphones, though, the xpPhone runs Windows XP. Orange Motorola DEXT hands-on [Video]

Archos’ new PMP isn’t the only Android gadget SlashGear has been playing with recently. Last night saw the launch of the European version of Motorola’s first Android smartphone, the Motorola DEXT. Debuted last week as the Motorola CLIQ in the US, the QWERTY slider smartphone is set to arrive exclusively on Orange in the UK and France; so far all the carrier has said is “early October”, but SlashGear was told that the official release date is somewhere between the 5th and the 9th of October.

Orange UK Motorola DEXT preorders from Sept 22nd

We're still waiting for official word from Motorola and T-Mobile in the US as to when the new CLIQ Android smartphone will land, but that hasn't stopped the manufacturer's UK arm from getting a little more specific.  The Motorola DEXT - which is how the handset will be branded outside the US - has been confirmed to arrive on Orange UK in early September, with preordering expected to begin on September 22nd. T-Mobile UK and Orange merge to create biggest UK carrier

UK carriers Orange and T-Mobile have announced plans to merge, in a deal that will leave them the country's largest mobile phone firm.  The two carriers will maintain separate front-end operations for the next eighteen months, while their branding is examined presumably in preparation for a merge, but in the background they will share network infrastructure and are promising customers improvements in quality and coverage. In case London-based readers of SlashGear forgot, this morning saw carrier Orange put the expensive-but-attractive LG GD910 watch-phone on sale at their flagship store.  Electricpig cashed in their premium bonds and stopped by to pick up one of the limited edition touchscreen handsets, promptly throwing up an unboxing gallery and some first impressions. Orange UK have announced pricing for the LG GD910 touchscreen watch phone, the wrist-worn handset that went on sale in France earlier this month.  The handmade device will be priced at £500 ($826) and only available for a limited period; units will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis.
