Orange iPhone 3GS data limitations looking draconian

Color us confused again.  While Orange claimed that in offering the iPhone 3GS in the UK in opposition to hitherto-exclusive rival O2 they'd "increase value" to buyers, some bizarre limitations in the terms & conditions have us wondering whether life really was better with O2.  As we pointed out earlier this week, Orange define "unlimited data" as 750MB; however there's also a potentially more limiting cap on what streaming and IM services - such as internet radio and Facebook messaging - can be used.

Motorola MILESTONE official: DROID for Europe

Motorola MILESTONE official: DROID for Europe

Having been spotted over the weekend, albeit unofficially, Motorola Europe and O2 have officially announced the Motorola MILESTONE, the GSM version of the Verizon DROID.  The MILESTONE will run Android 2.0, just as with the CDMA handset, and has been confirmed for Germany and Italy on - according to Motorola Germany - at least Vodafone and O2.

Motorola MILESTONE (aka GSM Verizon DROID) confirmed for O2 Germany

We're still playing avidly with our Verizon DROID by Motorola in preparation for the full review this coming week - check out some first-impressions and highlights in the meantime - but according to a leaked O2 Germany document the GSM European version may only be days away.  The document lists the Motorola MILESTONE - with a shot of what's definitely the Motorola DROID - as coming to the German carrier in the week beginning November 9th 2009; in fact there's already a page for the MILESTONE on the O2 Germany site.

Nokia Booklet 3G on sale this week (in Europe at least)

Advance interest in Nokia's Booklet 3G is, if you believe the rumors, so strong that the Finnish company is already preparing the sequel, but we'll wait until the first shipping units get played with before getting too excited.  The Nokia netbooks have just started to ship in Europe, with O2 Germany offering the Booklet 3G for €249 ($371) with a 24-month, €20 ($30) data plan.

HTC HD2 appears on O2 site as accessories option

The tipped O2 UK release date for the HTC HD2 of October 19th has come and gone, with no sign of the Windows Mobile 6.5 uber-phone on shelves.  However, there is at least one mention of the HD2 on O2's site: the Windows Phone is an option in the carrier's accessory pages, though so far there's no sign of any actual accessories.

O2 Palm Pre arrives in UK and Ireland with free Touchstone deal

It's October 16th and that can only mean one thing: O2 have launched the Palm Pre in the UK and Ireland.  Well, there are probably more things happening today, but right now we're concentrating on the webOS GSM smartphone we reviewed earlier this month.  Best of all, if you hurry down to your local O2 store and are among the first 10 people to turn up for a Pre, the carrier will apparently give you a free Touchstone charger with it.

HTC HD2 hits O2 UK in week starting October 19th

According to carrier O2, the HTC HD2 will be launching in the UK from the week beginning October 19th, putting the flagship Windows Phone potentially less then 10 days away from capacious pockets.  We're yet to hear anything official from O2 or HTC themselves - the latter only told reporters that the HD2 would drop in October when they launched the Windows Mobile 6.5 device earlier this week - but customer services for the carrier have apparently been telling callers about the October 19th date.

O2 Palm Pre GSM review

O2 Palm Pre GSM review

For European consumers, the Palm Pre has been a long time coming. Announced - in CDMA form - back in January 2009, with Palm coyly dancing around the matter of a GSM version until its Sprint launch took place in June, the smartphone has even gained a sibling (in the shape of the Palm Pixi) before those across the Atlantic have had a chance to play with the original. That's all finally changing this month, with carrier O2 exclusively offering the Pre in the UK and Ireland from October 16th and Germany from October 13th. Has time dulled the Pre's appeal? SlashGear have been testing out the GSM Palm Pre; check out our full review after the cut.

HTC HD2 also getting T-Mobile UK release?

Having been seen in UK carrier O2's upcoming phone catalog, there's now talk of the second operator to offer the 4.3-inch Snapdragon based HTC Leo smartphone.  According to CoolSmartPhone's sources, the Windows Phone - which is expected to be branded the HTC HD2 - has begun to show up in T-Mobile UK's internal systems.

O2 catalog lists upcoming HTC HD2

The tricky thing about printed catalogs is that they require some preparation, and that generally puts them into plenty of peoples' hands.  One such leaky person has handed over an upcoming O2 catalog to Engadget, with the first official listing of the HTC HD2 (aka the HTC Leo) we've seen so far.

Vodafone UK next to get iPhone 3GS [Updated]
