O2 Galaxy Tab priced at ridiculous £600

, Oct 28th 2010 Discuss [2]

Perhaps we're naive, but we're not sure UK carrier O2 actually want to sell any of Samsung's Galaxy Tab.  Official pricing has been announced, ahead of the Froyo slate's release on November 1, and it turns out that not only is O2 not subsidizing the Tab, they're actually asking for more than most other retailers. HTC HD7 for O2 Launching October 21st

, Oct 11th 2010 Discuss [0]

The early "announcements" just won't stop coming, it seems. It looks like someone at O2 couldn't keep the lid on the news any longer, and has launched a section of the site that details the HTC HD7, which will launch on the carrier later this month (in ten days). As we've come to expect, the device will feature Microsoft's upcoming mobile Operating System, Windows Phone 7, and bring a huge screen along for the ride. Read The Full Story

O2 Germany list Samsung Galaxy Tab for €759

Samsung has been pretty coy with official pricing for the Galaxy Tab so far, but O2 Germany has become one of the first carriers to spill the beans on a solid figure.  The carrier is offering the 7-inch Android slate through their My Handy payment plan, a way to spread the cost of the device over - in this case - a 24-month period without actually getting a network subsidy.  Unfortunately, early fears were correct: O2 Germany are asking for €759 ($1,047) overall for the Galaxy Tab. , Sep 17th 2010 Discuss [2]

Carrier O2 is raising UK iPad WiFi + 3G owners' blood pressure, with the unexpected - and quiet - decision to slice a fair chunk from data allowances for the Apple slate.  Customers are being contacted with the information that their original data plans - which offered 3GB for £15 per month or 500MB for £2 per day - are now being considered "promotional allowances", and as of early October will be reduced to 2GB for £15 or 200MB for £2. Apple Opting Out of Environmental Ranking System Forum for the Future

, Aug 25th 2010 Discuss [0]

Ranking systems are used for pretty much everything, in one way or another. And ranking how "green" your piece of technology is one way all those eco-friendly individuals out there can determine whether or not your gadget is the next thing they'll shell out their money for. Thanks to a new system brought together from UK carrier O2, cell phones are making their presence known on the green list. However, you shouldn't expect to see the iPhone on there -- Apple's not allowing their device to be tested, or listed. Read The Full Story

Orange promise microSIM adapter for iPhone 4 customers [Update: O2 too]

, Jun 21st 2010 Discuss [5]

It should come as no great surprise - and you could probably make one yourself using a scrap of plastic - but Orange UK has confirmed that, with each iPhone 4 microSIM they supply, they'll also be throwing in an adapter that converts it to the more commonly used miniSIM size.  The adapter basically means that you can take your iPhone 4 microSIM and use it in another, SIM-unlocked handset, handy if you're headed out to somewhere you wouldn't want to risk your new Apple toy. Updated with O2 news after the cut Read The Full Story

Data caps, the iPhone 4 and the carrier half-message

We do it in the street, in the office, in bed and even in the bathroom: whip out our phones and chew through some mobile data. Now, the carriers reckon, we’re doing it too much. Data caps have been making headlines over the past few weeks, as networks announce their pricing for – ostensibly – the new iPhone 4 but – in reality – a world in which mobile Internet appetite is exceeding supply. Out goes the promise of “unlimited” data and in come not just new, tighter caps but the “average use” statistics to justify them. So why, amid echoing reassurance that what’s on offer is comfortably more than we need, do I feel like I’m only hearing half of the story?

O2 limit iPhone 4 to existing customers until August

, Jun 18th 2010 Discuss [0]

That iPhone 4 handsets are in short supply is common knowledge; however UK carrier O2 has come up with a pretty extreme way of keeping their subscribers happy.  The carrier has announced that, until July 31st, only existing O2 customers will be able to buy the new Apple smartphone.  That includes current mobile subscribers looking to upgrade to the iPhone 4, or O2 broadband subscribers wanting to pick up an O2 phone. O2 confirm iPhone 4 pricing

, Jun 17th 2010 Discuss [0]

UK carrier O2 has announced official iPhone 4 handset pricing, and there are some surprises in store.  Having shown us their tariff details - complete with paltry 500MB inclusive data allowance - this time last week, O2 has now confirmed that the iPhone 4 will in fact be cheaper on an 18-month basic contract than it will on a 24-month agreement: £209 versus £279 for the 16GB model, in fact.
