UK carrier O2 has announced official iPhone 4 handset pricing, and there are some surprises in store. Having shown us their tariff details - complete with paltry 500MB inclusive data allowance - this time last week, O2 has now confirmed that the iPhone 4 will in fact be cheaper on an 18-month basic contract than it will on a 24-month agreement: £209 versus £279 for the 16GB model, in fact.

Vodafone iPhone 4 pricing revealed: more data than O2 offer
Apple's webstores may be up and down as the company battles legions of would-be iPhone 4 preorder customers, but over at carrier Vodafone it's all about unveiling their official pricing and packages for their offering. Unlike rival O2, who have cut down entry-level inclusive data to just 500MB, Vodafone are including 1GB across the board; tariffs kick off at £25 ($37) per month, with the iPhone 4 itself costing £280.

Orange UK next to scrap unlimited data; Vodafone to follow?
UK carrier Orange is the next to follow O2 and AT&T, axing unlimited data packages from their contract range from July 2010. The move follows Orange exec Guillaume van Gaver's comments back in March that "unlimited data packages are not ultimately sustainable. Fair usage policies will be applied, because everyone has to recognise the challenge of carrying video." Meanwhile Vodafone are apparently expected to withdraw their own unlimited data offerings this coming summer.

O2 iPhone 4 tariffs revealed: data disappointment
Even as we were writing up O2's newly reduced mobile data tariffs, we were hoping the new packages wouldn't apply to the upcoming iPhone 4. Unfortunately, the UK carrier has just confirmed its iPhone 4 packages, and subscribers will indeed be limited to up to 1GB of data unless they want to take out data overage "bolt-ons"; most tariffs come with just 500MB, in fact. It's beginning to look like the days of unlimited mobile internet really are ending; O2 have followed AT&T's example and are killing off their unlimited data tariffs. Instead, from June 24th, there will be three different tiers of inclusive data - 500MB, 750MB or 1GB - together with optional "bolt-on" extras of 500MB for £5 ($7) or 1GB for £10 ($15). O2 announce iPhone 4 early upgrade offer
UK carrier O2 has announced their upgrade policy for the iPhone 4, including offers for existing subscribers who want to jump onto Apple's new smartphone ahead of their contract ending. Between June 24th and July 24th, existing subscribers still within their contract can upgrade to the iPhone 4 by paying £20 ($29) per month remaining in a one-off charge.

AT&T have already confirmed their iPhone 4 pricing for the US, but without a name-check on stage at WWDC yesterday carriers in the other four countries - France, Germany, UK and Japan - that will see the iPhone 4 on June 24th have been left to announce details themselves. Dell have just sent over their Streak Android MID, fresh to the O2 network today, and we’ve been getting to grips with it the 5-inch Snapdragon-based slate. The company are insistent that this is a tablet, not a smartphone, but of course it really sits somewhere in-between. O2 Dell Streak pricing confirmed
O2 UK have officially confirmed pricing for the Dell Streak Android MID, which will arrive on their network tomorrow in both 16GB and 32GB flavors. As with The Carphone Warehouse, the Streak will be available from free with a new £25/month agreement; however, that's if you're taking out an O2 data-only plan. If you want voice service, meanwhile, you'll be looking at £35/month minimum if you want a "free" Streak.

Free Dell Streak on contract confirms UK retailer
UK retailer The Carphone Warehouse has confirmed pricing for the Dell Streak, set to go on sale at the end of this week. The Android-based MID will be priced from free with a new, £25 ($36) per month agreement - or £35 ($51) per month including unlimited data - or, alternatively, for a standalone price of £429 ($620).
