ASUS' Eee Box range arguably came of age when the company announced the 1501, their first NVIDIA Ion based model.  Packing a DVD drive and various video output options, we've been waiting to see when it might show up in the wild; that question has been answered by the guys at Newgadgets.de, who grabbed some live shots of the Eee Box 1501 at a press conference in Munich.

NES console mods are cool, HTPCs are pretty cool, and nettops with NVIDIA Ion graphics are darned cool too, so when you put all three elements together you've got a recipe for something with a whole lot of cool potential.  Modder drumboog has been video documenting his work transforming a NES into an Atom 330 based Blu-ray HTPC with GeForce 9400M graphics, and while it's not quite complete yet, it's certainly 99-percent awesome.

NVIDIA Ion 2 confirmed for 2009 launch

NVIDIA have confirmed that they plan to launch their second-generation Ion 2 chipset sometime in 2009, after rumors of such plans circulated in early July.  According to Fudzilla the confirmation came from NVIDIA’s head of chipsets, with the Ion 2 expected to deliver a smaller die, far faster graphics and many more shaders.

Flash 10.1 unveiled: smartphone betas coming, HD GPU acceleration added

Adobe have upgraded their Flash offensive, with the news this week that the next version - Flash 10.1 - will run across not only desktop but mobile and smartphone platforms.  Taking advantage of the Open Screen Project (OSP), the new version will arrive as a Windows Mobile and webOS beta before the year is out, while early in 2010 we'll get Android and Symbian versions.  Finally, while there's no release date for 10.1 yet given, RIM have signed up to the OSP meaning BlackBerry devices will also get Flash support.

ASUS have stepped up their nettop game with the arrival of the ASUS EeeBox EB1501.  The first of the company's range to include an integrated optical drive, the EB1501 also includes Intel's Atom 330 dual-core CPU and NVIDIA's 1080p-capable Ion graphics chipset, turning the neatly-balanced nettop into a pretty impressive media center PC.

Lenovo IdeaCentre Q110 NVIDIA Ion nettop on sale now

Lenovo’s NVIDIA Ion packing nettop, the IdeaCentre Q110, has finally hit virtual shelves, with prices starting from $399.  A compact 6 x 6.8 x 0.8 inches, the Q110 uses Intel’s single-core Atom 230 1.6GHz processor with 2GB of RAM, a 160GB hard-drive and Windows Vista Home Premium 64; an upgrade to Windows 7 upon its release next month is also included in the price.

ASUS have kicked out a new 12-inch netbook, the Eee PC 1201N, packing NVIDIA's Ion graphics chipset and 2GB of RAM.  The Eee PC 1201N is yet to make an official appearance on ASUS' own site, but is currently listed with a Chinese web retailer; for your 3,504 yuan ($513) you get Intel's Atom N270 1.6GHz processor and a 250GB 5,400rpm SATA hard-drive.

We’re frankly not convinced that Vigor Gaming Computer’s Stealth NE gaming PC could avoid radar detection while flying low-level bombing missions, but we’ll give the compact desktop credit for using NVIDIA’s Ion GPU in an interesting way.  The Stealth NE packs a choice of Intel Core 2 Duo or Core 2 Quad processors in with a Zotac Mini-ITX motherboard bearing NVIDIA’s GeForce 9300, all squeezed into a 8.74 x 10.87 x 6.93 inch SFF casing.
