LG Optimus G Pro revealed with beastly Full HD display

This week the folks at LG have revealed their fair share of smartphones, not the least of them being the LG Optimus G Pro, a device we've seen several peeks of before. This device works with a massive 5.5-inch display with Full HD resolution and a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor. This device will be unleashed in South Korea first and has not yet been confirmed for Europe or the United States. Read The Full Story

NTT DoCoMo Medias W N-05E tries Android on a twin-display clamshell

Dual-screen smartphones are few and far between, but NTT DoCoMo and NEC apparently think a pair of displays is better one one, hence the new clamshell Medias W N-05E announced in Japan today. Joining two qHD 960 x 540 4.3-inch screens with a hinge on the right, allowing the display on the rear to be twisted forward and make for an almost-square 960 x 1080 touchscreen. Read The Full Story

Samsung Tizen phone tipped for 2013 with DoCoMo & Vodafone

Samsung and a number of global carriers will launch the first Tizen smartphone in 2013, with NTT DoCoMo, Vodafone, and France Telecom all expected to jump on board with the open-source alternative OS. While HTC, Panasonic, ASUS, Acer, Huawei and others have all voiced interest in developing Tizen devices, according to The Yomiuri Shimbun's sources it will be Samsung that pushes the first handset running the MeeGo-reborn platform out of the door. DoCoMo SH-02E ZETA first phone to use Sharp’s frugal IGZO screen

DoCoMo has launched the first smartphone to use Sharp's IGZO display technology, the AQUOS PHONE SH-02E ZETA, promising economy advantages as well as increased brightness for outdoor use. Sharp's panels were originally tipped to show up in Apple products, potentially the third-gen iPad, however it's taken a little extra time to get them market ready, with the new DoCoMo Android phone the first to benefit. Still, the SH-02E is more than just a screen trailblazer: it also packs a 16.3-megapixel camera with both optical and electronic stabilization. Tobii and NTT DOCOMO announce ibeam eye-tracking tablet

Tablets these days can do a lot of different things, but NTT DOCOMO has a new tablet in the pipeline with a feature that we don't see all that often: eye tracking. The eye tracking technology in NTT DOCOMO's new ibeam concept tablet will be supplied by Tobii, and if you're going to be at CEATEC in Tokyo at the beginning of October, you'll get the chance to see it in action. Fujitsu, NEC and DoCoMo take on Qualcomm with new 3G/4G chip company

Some of the leading lights in Japanese mobile tech have joined forces to take on Qualcomm and TI in developing wirelessly-enabled smartphone and tablet chipsets. Fujitsu, NTT DoCoMo, NEC and Fujitsu Semiconductor have created Access Network Technology Limited, a new collaboration that will produce "industry-leading communications platform products" and reduce reliance on foreign-made wireless components. Docomo Galaxy Nexus Pure Google Premium Campaign revealed and detailed

There's a brand new Special Edition Samsung Galaxy Nexus out there folks, and it comes straight from Japanese mobile carrier Docomo. This limited run of Galaxy Nexus devices is also known as the SC-04D Special Edition and will include a special "Google Original Rear Cover" with a lovely white tree design etched into it as well as a "Pocket Charger 01" which is essentially a rechargeable battery that can charge up your device on the go. Fujitsu Arrows Tab waterproof tablet hands-on

I'd say I always get a bit wary when a device toots its own horn about one specific specification it has and doesn't speak much at all about the rest, but who am I kidding: I love strange ideas like making a tablet able to be completely submerged in water with waterproofing enough to tell the tale. This isn't the only waterproof tablet to be shown off this week at CES 2012, the other being the Pantech Burst, which is said to be able to take a full minute of dunking without damage, but did prove itself to be much more hearty than that with a several-minute-dunk during its announcement at the AT&T developers keynote early in the week. LTE iPad 3 rumored for summer 2012, LTE iPhone 5 in fall

Apple may be preparing for an LTE-based iPad 3 to launch by summer of next year and an LTE-based iPhone 5 to arrive by fall, if a new report from Nikkei Business is to accurate. The story claims that Japanese carrier NTT DoCoMo has reached an agreement with Apple to distribute the next-gen devices on this schedule, which suggests that device would arrive worldwide on a similar time frame.
