HP’s Winter 2009/2010 consumer device catalog has leaked, tipping a new touchscreen ultraportable together with confirming the company’s new CULV notebook and their Core i7-based desktop replacement.  The HP Pavilion dv3 with TouchSmart is a 13.3-inch 1,366 x 768 notebook with a touchscreen interface, up to 500GB hard-drive, 8GB of RAM and NVIDIA GeForce G105M graphics.

Many people are very interested in saving power not only to save money on utility bills, but also to help the environment. A company called Huntkey has announced a new series of Energy Star universal notebook power adapters that promise to save significant power compared to standard power adapters.

Apple have already been tipped as readying a new entry-level MacBook once this month, and now the second nod to the polycarbonate MacBook line has come, courtesy of AppleInsider.  They’ve heard that the range refresh will likely be launched alongside the rumored new iMac desktops, themselves described as “imminent”, and be the Cupertino company’s “most affordable notebook offerings” to date.

Toshiba have announced the Qosmio X500, their 18.4-inch Full HD desktop-replacement notebook packing an Intel Core-i7 2.8GHz processor and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 250MNV 1GB graphics.  Set to arrive by the end of October, the Qosmio X500 squeezes in a Blu-ray burner, up to 8GB of DDR3 memory, twin 500GB 5,400rpm hard-drives and WiFi b/g/n.

Dell and Alienware have unveiled five new gaming notebooks that will be hitting the market soon. The new machines include the M15x laptop, the M17x laptops and new gaming desktops. Really, the machines aren’t all new models, but have been upgraded with new components.

Intel is showing off a notebook concept under the code name Tangent Bay at IDF that is very cool. The machine has three OLED screens right above the keyboard that are all touch sensitive. The screens can be used to organize information and presumably launch apps.

ASUS have outed two new Republic of Gamers notebooks, the G60 and G71X, offering Intel Core 2 Duo and Core 2 Quad processors respectively.  The two new laptops each have NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 260M with 1GB of dedicated memory, driving a 16-inch 1,366 x 768 display in the case of the G60, and a 1,920 x 1,200 in the G71X.  Both machines have Blu-ray drives, dual HDDs set up in RAID arrays (640GB total in the G60; 1TB total in the G71X) and both HDMI and eSATA ports.

MSI unveils X410 notebook

MSI has been launching lots of new notebooks over the last few days and today the company has announced a new notebook called the X410. The X410 is a new addition to the X-Slim 14-inch notebook family. The thin little notebook promises good performance with the latest AMD ultrathin platform.

At CES in 2008 and 2009, NVIDIA was showing off some sweet 3D gaming tech in its booth. In 2008, I spent some time playing Need for Speed Pro Street in glorious 3D in the NVIDIA booth and the experience was easily one of the best driving game experiences I have had. 3D is coming of age rapidly with a glut of home theater products being 3D ready today. 3D is also set to come to our notebooks.

Details are scant, but according to Forbes Dell are considering packing their upcoming Latitude Z premium notebook with wireless charging.  The notebook – which has a 16-inch display and is being targeted at high-end corporate buyers – is Dell’s attempt to reposition themselves as a design-focused company, and will have a “sleek gray” casing and Intel CPU.
